They say private matches won't be shipped on release, though I'm confident they will add atleast something . But here's a thought to spark greater ideas. Firstly to note I'm not going to whine or rant at all, in my eyes beauty and perfection takes dedication. So here's my thoughts on the matter. Bungie have added a playlist called skirmish it pits two teams against each other 3v3 (however this could be a precursor to be lifted to 6v6), this seems the most natural of playlists your bog standard TDM as it were. Now it's a simple list with the most basic objective and it's still considered in an competitive playlist. It's quite possible in my thinking I believe bungie will adapt on this and release a private skirmish and that will be the beginning of our MLG playlists. If they do obviously a lot of the PvP community will rejoice, I don't think it should be about " if bungie adds this they risk removing something else". Bungie I believe also mentioned they can add/remove content on the fly being their own servers, it's possible they'll add it when they feel it's time.
