Because casuals don't want to admit that there are people who are better than them at the game. Some people prefer an easy COOP game where everyone gets to win, and some people like challenge and competition in their lives.

Filthy casuals, didn't they learn that games aren't supposed to be fun?
Am I doing this right?
Competition is what makes all games fun. Would you play cards if everyone won? Would you watch sports if everyone won? etc. Devs make SP games so all the awful casuals can feel good about beating bots.

Filthy casuals, how dare they think anything other than competitive PvP is fun. Don't they know they're not allowed to have fun unless they're killing n00bz?
Based on your response, I wasn't doing it right. So here is my revised version.
I know right! Grinding the same mind numbingly simple strike mission for glimmer is where the REAL fun is! It's all about the LOOT! AMIRIGHT?!

Yes, exactly. I'm glad we finally agreed on something. PvE is the better activity.

BIG AAASSMMMEEEENNNN, since the start of time, competition is what lead to balance and survival. This bleed over to sports and games as simple as board games. Now these casuals are the rejects, people that never triumphed over adversity people that crack under the pressure. They normally hide in MMORPGS but are increasing coming over to FPS thanks to destiny. If you let these rejects to their own devices they will ruin yet another genre of gaming.
