It isn't competitive players I dislike. I'm competitive. I dislike the tryhards that seem to go out of their way to be asses to other people. These people happen to be MLG wannabes in many cases.
Your comparison leads me to think that you believe that casuals aspire to going "pro" when, back here on earth, we just want to enjoy the game. The fact that there is a distinction between the "casual" and "hardcore" crowd is part of the problem.

This is not even true at all, MLG players take their time competing in tournaments with other likeminded people, they don't venture out into the casual world. You're just talking about fegs that can be a part of any community.

What is it called when I'm playing Halo Reach, and someone invites me to 1v1 MLG because I was MVP of an Infection match?
-
I think that's called a 1v1. It's when one player plays against another for fun, or to settle an argument over who is better.

Edited by Ghost in Gears: 8/16/2014 3:19:44 AMReally? Because Infection is what I would call a casual gametype. Anyway, I'm playing it, I win some, then a random guy will invite me to play a private match. An MLG gametype, with MLG rules, on an MLG map, and he trounces me at it because I've never played it before. I say uncle, he seems to think that settles it, and that he's the best. That's why I dislike MLG at this point. I don't care for bruised egos, yet several players will keep demanding a pound of flesh out of my hide because I can pay well, and I can win sometimes. They think it's grounds for a 1v1 when I just want to play a damn video game the way it was meant to be played. That's not my argument against private matches, that's just my experience with people who think they're MLG. That's why I dislike them. I wouldn't call myself a casual since I have a lot of experience. However, I'm not competitive; I'm not out there to prove I'm the best, but there's always some other guy has to try and prove to me that he is.

No one is forcing you to engage morons. Like I said, there are assholes in every community. Don't blame MLG when it's individuals that are the issue.

Alright, I'll remember that. Thank you for your time, I appreciate it.
