That's like a high school Bball player that loves Bball but Hates NBA..
I hate how it's casual vs. competitive (hardcore) players in the forums..
Shouldn't we be helping each other to make a game that we all love to be better?
How can private matches hurt or spoil the fun for casual gamers?
Edit: well at least we ALL agree, that private matches won't hurt anyone by adding it to the game. Thank you for the posts, I have a bigger understanding for both sides.

So MLG brah
-
I don't hate MLG, I just don't know if it has a place in this game. This isn't a pvp game. It is a pve game first and foremost with a side dish of pvp. I think that's been the hardest thing for people to grasp, mainly because of it being a FPS, and most FPS games are pvp based.
-
I don't think they hate MLG. I think they hate the dbags spouting mlg as the end all be all to the game. The ones that are so pvp focused as if kdr and mlg is the only way to measure a game. Those types, while possibly good at a game, come across as giant pieces of shite and thereby garner instant pushback by everyone except others of thier kind. Which would be dbags.

Why does mlg hate casuals?
-
Edited by possum__jenkens: 8/16/2014 1:20:54 AMmlg is irrelevant anymore. now whenever people hear it, they just laugh and shake their heads. due to a mix of indigestion, embarrassment and pity for those involved with it. that still think mlg is relevant.
-
Because saying you're MLG doesn't mean shit anymore, anyone can join it. It's basically become one of those clans that recruits whomever applies. Not to mention if you really wanna brag, you can pay $10 a month to be MLG ULTRA PRO VIP. It has become ridiculous. Unless you actually go to the conferences and have a sponsorship, your MLG status doesn't mean shit to people who were there when it started and was relevant.

Edited by SaferMurderweapon: 8/16/2014 12:20:09 AMUsed to participate in competitive gaming. Went toe to toe with real pros back around 2009. Dropped out from all the negativity and immaturity. I rarely even touch matchmaking in competitive shooters anymore. Competitive gaming isn't what it used to be. Fun fact: Everyone who claims to be "MLG" in anyway tend to ride horses so high they are literally starved of oxygen. That's probably the reason. Not to say that everyone who participates in Major League Gaming is bad, there is just a trend that's very apparent.

MLG is a JOKE, dafuq are u talking about ?
-
Don't come in here with that condescending "Rush Limbaugh" banter assdouche. DON'T. Destiny is NOT and will NEVER be MLGHASHTAGxxX420NoSCOPEZiliveinmymomsbasementwearingherpantiesxxX. If Bungie wanted it that way, they would have included a lobby for "custom matchmaking" They Didn't. If Bungie wanted a bunch of highschool rejects yelling about MLGHASHTAGxxX420NoSCOPEZiliveinmymomsbasementwearingherpantiesxxX through the mic, they would have given us proxy chat But they didn't Go home, play your damn CoD Die in a fiery car wreck snorting bath salts listening to Beiber. P.S. I know they were edible panties.....I bought me for her
-
But at the same time, I know that this is a blanket statement. Not all mlg players are the same, I know.
-
I'm casual and I almost always destroy mlg players. I guess it's the same reason I don't like the gym. Too many proverbial roid ragers who use the label as an identity.
-
Do you even MLG Pro bro?!?!
-
I'm pretty sure the saltiness going on is about how MLG or PFPM (people for private matchmaking) aren't simply voicing their want for PMs so much as they are instead (or in addition) nay saying the game and dooming it simply cause it's missing an aspect they expected to be in it. The game is beautiful for Co-op PvE players with a decent helping of fun competitive play. Most of us don't give a rats ass about PMs. I'm betting they will add it eventually. But I highly doubt the game is "doomed" either way and the other players that share my point of view are simply choosing a not so subtle way of voicing that same opinion. :p

Edited by TERRORCLASH: 8/16/2014 12:08:06 AMWhy do you refer to all non MLG gamers as casuals? Pretty sure I probably put in more game time in the Beta than a lot of 'MLG' players sooo...
-
first, dont call me "casual" im as "pro" as the rest of them. Second, ever since cod and mlg and that shit, all I can think of MLG is that they are whiner "OHHHHH QUIKSKOPD U SKRUB" or "OH MY GOD WHAT THE -blam!- THAT MOTHER -blam!-ING HACKER"
-
Private don't hurt anybody!!
-
I don't know. Why do "MLG" players use the word casual every chance they get?
-
because 1. they jealous 2. MLG's have terrible attitudes towards casuals. It's like the NBA players hating their Bball playing fans just because they aren't as good as them. And private games wouldn't hurt casuals at all. Anyone who says they don't want and option in game (such as custom matches of proxy chat) are hindering the enjoyment of others for no reason. hense, it being an option... as in, no you don't have to do it

Edited by HomeSliceArmy: 8/16/2014 12:05:42 AMI wouldn't say that casual (I speak for myself) gamers hate MLG, but instead just disagree with the viewpoints of the majority of the MLG community. Personally, with gaming as my top hobby, I don't consider myself MLG because of the community. It feels like the MLG players have a "HOLIER THAN THOU" attitude toward gaming. Just because I don't use gunnars, have a 300 dollar headset, or devote every waking second trying to get sponsored, I would be viewed as a minority in an MLG setting. I do agree that some people do have a bias toward MLG gamers, but as for being grouped as everyone hating MLG players, I think that is a little rash. And private matches can't spoil any fun I would have in Destiny, just like a Raid Matchmaking system wouldn't spoil any goals achieved by MLG players.
-
MLG Because Starcraft is to difficult and they can't D,DF,F-X
-
Fuk mlg feggots
-
To make things worse. Private matches arn't even a competitive only thing. Remember custom games? Michael meyers? Remember Red vs Blue, Machinimas. Or just playing with you're freinds and against them in general? All gone. Theres no point in voting no against a system that is not only easy to implement, but will help the game and community wether you play PvP or not.
-
>implying only "casuals" hate MLG lol...
-
I don't hate MLG or private matchmaking. I personally think its a good idea even if I more than likely won't be in MLG
-
for me, it's not that I dislike them... it's that MLG players tend to be the loudest most self centered people in a community... and it's annoying...
-
I haven't heard a single person say they hate MLG.
