That's like a high school Bball player that loves Bball but Hates NBA..
I hate how it's casual vs. competitive (hardcore) players in the forums..
Shouldn't we be helping each other to make a game that we all love to be better?
How can private matches hurt or spoil the fun for casual gamers?
Edit: well at least we ALL agree, that private matches won't hurt anyone by adding it to the game. Thank you for the posts, I have a bigger understanding for both sides.

Edited by DEZARATH: 8/16/2014 12:12:04 AMI don't care what you do in a private match. I don't care about the crucible or the Iron banner. I would rather options than none. Whatever. It's the insurmountable wave of jerks who show up in the forums and lobbies making sure your competitive culture finds itself rated as a choice between them or a case of tape worms and gout that's the problem.

Edited by Khârn the Betrayer: 8/16/2014 1:07:14 AMBecause most hardcores are only masquerading as HC, they're really just filthy causuals, peasants and commoner scum. At least that's what the science tells me when I read these bait posts. (Being either extremely for or against a set feature, declaring it mandatory for a specific sub-culture within the gaming community).

There are many reasons why but they one I see the most is casual games hate mlg because mlg tries to tell them how to play the game or says the way casual gamers play is stupid. It's a game. Everyone plays a different way.

Anyone who considers playing video games is a "sport", deserves five across the eyes!

Edited by Venomous47: 8/16/2014 12:45:41 AMMan you guys are taking this private match problem so serious, just calm down. If Bungie doesn't add it that means they dont think its important in the Destiny series. But from what Deej said, is that they are starting with the basics with this first Destiny like how they started with basics in the first Halo. Bungie is going to keep adding content to the Destiny series so just because Destiny is missing something right now doesn't mean that its never going to be implemented into the series later on.

Edited by DigiOps: 8/16/2014 2:18:36 AMIt isn't competitive players I dislike. I'm competitive. I dislike the tryhards that seem to go out of their way to be asses to other people. These people happen to be MLG wannabes in many cases. Your comparison leads me to think that you believe that casuals aspire to going "pro" when, back here on earth, we just want to enjoy the game. The fact that there is a distinction between the "casual" and "hardcore" crowd is part of the problem.
-
I hate mlg players but unfortunately I have to deal with them so I make sure I make them rage quit for all the casuals out there. We were all in your shoes at one point. #respect

You tell me why MLG players are complaining that the game is not being catered to their competitiveness. This is Bungie's home court son. We don't need no rulebooks and referees. This will be played by Bungies rules. If the don't do matchmaking, oh well. If they put it in later, oh well. People will be all over this forum antagonizing those people that have different views. Actually that's true for just about everything in life. There's nothing good or bad about this. It's just a game. One that I am sure I will enjoy with my friends, regardless of what other people want it to be like.

because mlg people are both extremely skilled and often extremely rude
-
Edited by Nemesis: 8/16/2014 2:43:50 AMMostly cause 1 they interpret mlg gamers as the dick head tryhards you see in competitive games "get muted", "your bad kid", "get on my lvl" , etc. And 2 they dont realise how big major league gaming is. Edit: this does not pertain to all casual players

Coz FaZe

Why do poor people hate rich people?
-
Cuz they r a bunch of screamin tryhard -blam!-
-
Edited by Venomous47: 8/16/2014 2:33:53 AMWell you can say the opposite to this as well. Why does MLG hate Casuals?
-
They hate the idea. Because they've seen the atrocious attitude of them. *insert dramatic music* But not everyone is rude :)
-
They don't hate MLG, they hate people who profess to "being MLG" and putting them down. Though by now I would've thought that these days were over, apparently I'm misguided.

Edited by bigroy666: 8/16/2014 2:28:25 AMI don't hate MLG....just sorta dislike elitist pricks, but honestly most all of people here are nice. And let's define "hardcore" shall we: I've been gaming since 1986, I'm 33 and put a shit ton of hours into gaming I have fun with pvp always have but my kd ratio is a little lacking, and I honestly wouldn't mind some MM for raids and what not. That being said would I be considered casual, as I'm not super competitive, laid back or hardcore cause I game pretty much more than I work lol. I just call my self gamer, as the lines for casual and hardcore are a bit blurry for me.
-
Im a casual/try hard and I dont care about MLG but I dont hate it
-
Unfortunately, it will always be casual vs. competitive hardcore. Generally speaking, casuals hate the competitive players because of the shit talking, and arrogance. The competitive hardcore players hate the casuals because they are not good and feel the game has been "dumbed down" for them. I agree, separation needs to take place for both types of gamers.

While I can't speak for anyone else, I hate you because of your elitist attitude and insistence on referring to non MLG gamers as "casuals". I'm 23 years old, I've probably been gaming for longer than you've been alive. I've certainly been gaming for longer than most of your ilk, I can guarantee you that. That doesn't mean to say I hate MLG gamers. No, quite to the contrary, I'm sure most of them are perfectly good people. I just hate the ones like you. Take a long hard look at yourself. You're most likely in your late teens/early twenties, great at videogames but not much else (any real sportsman would scoff at the idea of gaming being a sport). And you just compared yourself to an NBA player. A world class athlete earning about $20,000,000 a year. I'd be surprised if you could even dribble a basketball for more than three bounces before it flew off the court.

Hmm.. I think it is more that the hate comes forth when issues of pure fun vs. elite gaming come into conflict. Like when the issue of match rewards and who should get it comes up. Many were for a randomized loot system so all could play, have fun and have a good shot at getting something cool while playing. While more elite players were pissed that they were consistently coming in first so they deserved the rewards. Direct conflicts like that are not going to come to any reasonable agreement because both parties have a good point from their own standpoint. That being said.. I am not anywhere near a MLG player, but have to agree, private matches would not hurt this game in any way, shape or form, if certain necessary limits were applied to them. 1. Disable Stat tracking- Things that happen in private games should in no way shape or form be applied to your guardians overall stats for obvious reasons, as using private match's it would be very easy to abuse it and give yourself stats you do not deserve. 2. Disable Rewards - Same thing as last, you could use private games to farm rewards, easily complete bounty missions and get medals for multiplayer that you do not deserve. 3. Disable experience- What level you come into a custom match is what level you leave, no exp farming for u. Admittedly I don't remember if you actually can earn experience in the crucible so this might be a moot point. Being able to organize your own leagues, have clan battles vs each other, and simply start a match with some friends and goof around would extend the longevity of Destiny's multiplayer considerably. I mean, looking at it from a good clans point of view the multiplayer is going to get pretty damn boring if you party up, jump into the crucible, and 9 out of 10 times get put together against a bunch of randoms. Being able to challenge other clans to fights and put together your own matches will let the game remain fresh and challenging, rather than crossing your fingers and hoping matchmaking doesn't disappoint.

It is just resources spent on something I have no use for. I want as much of my $60 as possible to go to PvE.
-
I'm a hardcore gamer not a casual but I hate MLG the whole community associated with that scene is awful I don't want them anywhere near this fantastic new game I hated cod because the community sucked and people wanting to be "MLG Pro" just ruin games
