I thought that we were supposed to kill the Darkness, not each other!

Cause itz Bungie and Bungie's broken XD but really because its just practice
-
1 ReplyThink of it as intense training, the darkness is extremely powerful, it's to teach guardians to expect anything from their foes. And also guardians are not killed in the crucible like the person below me mentioned
-
I know right! Why can't we all just get together hand have an awesome dance party in random places across to solar system!?!? Hey everybody! There's a rave on Venus tonight! And tomorrow imma hit up the underground club on mars! Who's with me!?!?
-
3 RepliesThey don't actually 'kill' each other, you have seen how they become incapacitated and then go into a 'Ghost' state until someone goes and revives you. In the Crucible, its a sense of honor and that we are challenging ourselves to fight against the evil. This idea is solidified in the Iron Banner because it is for the best of the best. Of course, I could just be speculating this entire story behind the Crucible.
-
The name says it all. A crucible is something used for refining or alloying metal. It also means a test or trial. So it's basically training for the battles ahead against the true enemy. What better way to train guardians than against other guardians in live-fire excercises?
-
As far as lore goes, I recall a mail sack from several months ago where Deej stated that in full game you won't even be able to do pvp(he called it competitive multiplayer as he always does) until a certain level where it actually becomes part of the story. Now I'm not sure if our beta experience of "waiting until level 5 because" was that part or not. This was also pre alpha I think so maybe it has been changed.
-
Why not? We're already "dead". xD
-
My thought is that it's similar to Halo 4's PVP, where it's meant to be a training session.
-
For shits and gigs
-
We don't get along with each other
-
We're not killing each other. It's more like training, and your ghosts revives you when you get killed.

Practice

It's a practice thingy
-
Because robo-pope said to
-
2 RepliesMuch like steel sharpens steel. Diamond shapes diamond. Guardians sharpen and shape Guardians.
-
I like to call it purple ball competitive simulator 2014
-
It is what it's called. The crucible. But we can't truly die unless our ghost do so it is a fight for honor and glory.
-
Training and sport. Don't worry, its all regulated. No ghost blows, and everyone gets some glimmer afterwards. Its all good fun.
-
For glory!
-
Because the alternative would be letting a huge army of zombie psychopaths out of the tower to roam the streets of the last "safe" city... So...not exactly safe.
-
if we were actually killing each other in the crucible a side objective would be to then shoot the ghost that appears above the bodies. destroying the ghost is the only way to really kill a guardian
-
Why do spartans turn into Guilty Spark in Halo? Why are the Spetznaz and Marines having 1 v 1 quickscope matches on rust?
-
If you think about it it's like a battle simulation it's not real. Cause guardians wouldn't kill other guardians. Unless they are jerk wads.
-
3 RepliesSome Guardians...I just don't like.
-
I think they actually don't, it's more a sport or sparring, I think atleast that's from what I heard from NPC's & some vague lore regarding The Crucible. As you noticed no 1 dies in PVP, they just revive. As for fractions, they may use PVP as a way to gain public support/funding for they're causes - think of it like a gladiator that don't die that is sponsoring companies, like 1 could be sponsoring the company that makes Pepsi....
