Anyone remember that quote? What ever happened to that? In the beta, countless times I drove my sparrow off a ledge to an area that looked explorable, only to find that going there just killed me. It felt like all of Old Russia was the size of Forge World from Halo. I hardly considerate it to be worthy of the "Open World" title. Don't get me wrong, I LOVED the beta. The only thing that disappointed me was the explore mode. I expected to be spending most of my time in the game on explore, just, you know, exploring, but the gamemodes' name isn't really true to itself when you know the whole map of Old Russia after about an hour of gameplay. The "open world" in Destiny is a bit disappointing. I doubt those small areas that are blocked off will make the area feel much bigger, either. Anyone feel the same?
Edit: I made this thread right after the beta, before the game came out. Everyone got mad at me and freaked out. They all claimed, "It was just a beta." No-one really gets game betas that are available two months prior to release. Those aren't betas, they're demos. No-one believed me. Then, the game came out. And everyone began praising this thread. Funny.
I believe that if Destiny wasn't overhyped/over-advertised, AngryJoe wouldn't be flipping out. It is a GREAT game, it just doesn't live up to its pre-game hype. $1,000,000 was too much of an advertising fund, Activision.

It was the beta they aren't going to reveal everything.

Edited by Krunchcoat: 8/13/2014 1:58:45 AMMy question is, are you able to go to old Chicago like they told us in the past.
http://destiny.wikia.com/wiki/File:Old_Chicago.jpg
I agree. I tried going to the exact mountain that we speak of and there's no way. Even in the full release we are not going anywhere near that. Reminds me of skyrims 300 dungeons that are all unique and made totally different from each other yet every dungeon is the exact same. That said I don't care. I still have fun.

ya, i tested how far i could go and I ended up running into level 20 dudes that basically one shotted me. Thats how this type of games work, the maps will continue to unlock as you level up.

Old Russia wasnt fully unlocked

Judging the game's size through the Beta isn't really fair. Wait until the game actually comes out.

It would be cool but its an exceptional game nonetheless. Wish there were more posts praising the excellence of destiny but sadly negative posts seem to get all the attention.

Edited by Bladestorm35: 8/13/2014 1:00:49 AMIn all honesty...I really don't care if I can go climb a mountain in destiny or not. If I want to do that, I'll pop skyrim in. But even when they said that, I thought "alright. That's cool" but never really cared if I could because that doesn't really matter in the big picture!

That comment was made over a year ago. Things change while making a game. Maybe having it be too open would prevent you from following the story. Case in point, GTA. How many times have you been working on story missions to get side tracked by other things in a GTA title?
