Well at the risk of being flamed I'm going to side with the current mic chat functions. The only time most the gamers I know turn their mics on is when in a party with friends. In all the games I have played I dread people with mics. Every time I played call of duty it was a pain to mute each new group of random players coming in. People blasting music. People talking to others in the room with them but not talking to anyone in the video game. People on phone calls. Plus all the random cursing and screaming that goes on. The weirdest one I ever experienced was parakeets. A person in a game of warframe with me had like 5 parakeets screeching and his mic picked it up perfect. In the mmos I have played general/trade chat was always full of a mixed bag of crazy. From gold sellers, people arguing, etc. I can see the added convenience of mic chat in a strike but for the most part you knew what you had to do. The only thing I would add is some kind of marking system. Specifically for the devil walker. It would have been nice to let my team know what leg I was shooting at. Other than that nothing needed marked. Kill the trash. Kill the boss. It was fairly standard stuff. I think a solution for getting random groups together is in the tower. Maybe put a computer, bounty board, etc for people looking for a group. Maybe even tie in the forums in game to make it more convenient. Looking for a group then just head to the computer at the tower and boom your at the forums. I personally loved the silence. I loved not hearing all the trash talk. I loved not hearing some random loud music blasted in the mix. The sound in destiny was amazing. Crank up the surround sound and get lost in the music score and gun fire. It's not like you can't communicate at all. If you run a strike and had a good experience with someone hit them up. See if they are interested in partying up and running more. If your in explore mode and have done some events with a few players do the same thing. Now your filling your friends list with people playing destiny. Now you don't have to worry about all this communication issue. You have a great list of friends to play with. If there is a mic chat added. Please please add a "mute all" function. I don't need to hear 2 9 year old kids screaming obscenities at each other while their mom tells them to clean their room.
