Matchmaking should be there as an option. Period. I personally have no need for it because I'll have plenty of friends to play with, but for those that don't have a full team of 6 to take on a Raid, this is the simplest way to solve that problem. If I want to take on a Raid with a group of randoms, that should be my decision to make. If we fail, we fail and if we succeed, we succeed.
The alternative to matchmaking is what? Going on a website, like this very website, and starting a topic to get some people together to attempt a Raid. How is that any different from matchmaking? I still have no connection to these players, we're getting together solely because we have to in order to play a certain part of the game. Its still matchmaking, its just we're doing the matchmaking instead of the game doing the matchmaking.

Your first point makes no sense, so I'm not even going to touch that one. Although, to be fair, touching is allowed in some strip clubs. My first point was that some things aren't an option for a reason just cause we demand it doesn't mean we should get it

I completely agree with everyone below me, and yes the alternative is taking time and trying. Which also seems to be the biggest point people are missing in this whole raid idea

If your group fails the raid due to poor teammates, it will be your fault, not Bungie's.

I'm quite positive that some way to comunicate with your clan and ppl in general will be added. It's too stupid not having anything. And if there is way to comunicate in-game start searching for a static

The problem with that's is that it will undoubtedly lead to lots of nerfing and ultimately ruin the experience :/

Matchmaking is not the only solution, but I agree that there should be a solution. Being able to chat with other people in the world would be a start.
