Getting a lot of whiners (I know, what's new) about the MM. And one thing I keep hearing is "Why should I be restricted from part of the game, I have a job, wife, family, school whatever, so it should be changed to ensure I can play. After all I paid just as much as you.
Yet none of those people stop to think about the players these raids are designed for. And Bungie has been pretty vocal about wanting to have something for every type of gamer. Creating activities for every mood, or every type of gamer, means not everyone is going to like or be able to do every activity.
If you're not the type of person that can schedule a time with 5 other people to tackle the hardest co-op experience in the game, then raids weren't designed for you. And it's extremely selfish and entitled of you to say that the raid Bungie designed for those players should cater to your play style.
Want MM co-op dungeion, there will be probably 20 times as many strikes designed just for you than there will be raids designed for raiders. Want PVP, well Bungie has you covered as well. Want story, either lone wolf or co-op, covered. Want to explore every nook and cranny of the different worlds, covered.
Between strikes, PVP, nighfall events and other limited time activities that Bungie will be providing, the 1 raid is probably like 5% of the available endgame activities. Someone only interested in PVE and skipping out on PVP is going to be missing much more of the game that someone that isn't able to raid. And since powerful exotics can be obtained in every activity, you aren't going to be out gunned by someone that can raid.
TL:DR
Creating activities for every mood, or every type of gamer, means not everyone is going to like or be able to do every activity. There's still an abundance of activities designed for you.

Edited by Sean: 8/7/2014 9:24:33 AMThe problem with no raid matchmaking is that it can be difficult to coordinate 5 other people. You have to remember that there is no chat with anyone in the game unless you or another person in your party sends out an invite. You can't communicate with random players you meet in the Crucible, you can't talk to random players while you are in the Tower, and you can't communicate with players while you are exploring. The only way to talk to anyone is by inviting them to your party, and honestly, why would you run around and then invite someone to your fire team if you've never been able to determine if they aren't an idiotic child beforehand? The answer is that you wouldn't. So, not having Raid matchmaking is a terrible idea when it is combined with the lack of chat to other people. Raid Matchmaking is not needed if they only added the simple ability of being able to communicate with random players so you can coordinate a good team.

MMO carebears are flooding in, BRACE YOURSELF

A game that every type of gamer can enjoy could mean "that everyone can enjoy something about everything." Not sure how "if you are casual, only X% is going to be available to you" is something most people actually get from that.

Was it really necessary to put this up hear man....

Read 'entitled', stopped reading.

I don't feel bad for anyone crying about this stuff. If you actually try to tell me that at some point in the next, oooh say, YEAR, you won't have a single day or 2 that offers you 4 hours of free time? Bullshit. 100% horse apples. People just use it as a reason to bitch. That is all.

Maybe get some friends bro
-
In the time that someone takes to write a thread complaining about raids and respond to people on the thread these people instead could have gone over to the clan forums and got together a group of 6 with similar interests and hobbies

Edited by Rater: 8/7/2014 12:14:26 PMYou do have access. Stop with these ridiculous posts.
is what I'd say if you were actually whining

After all I paid just as much as you
Do they not realise everyone except usa residents will be paying more than $60? That is classic:D

Agreed. And heres the funny part People complain about not having access to endgame content, i.e "raid" But yet they are probably not skilled enough to get through the raid and therefore technically never had access to "endgame content" to begin with. Side Note: if people were smart enough, theyd realize, technically, they do have access to raids. They just choose not to by not making 5 friends. Its not like you gotta pay to access raids, or play 10000 hours of Destiny, or reach Crucible Rank 500.

I played WOW back in the day and there was technically a lot of content I paid for that I never got to access. Couldn't get geared up enough to hit the harder raids. My whole point with that is that that is a game that a lot of people pay monthly for to not access all the content. No one is whining over there because they understand what a raid is. Console gamers have never had anything like this, so the term isn't really something they are familiar with. But let it be known that if it is a true raid (by that I mean hard end-game content) you don't want a matchmaking system for it. It would be impossible with randoms. I've tried it on WOW. Never worked at all. I think Bungie needs to put out more info to explain exactly what these are, what the consist of, and how much time you have to invest to get your character ready, get your group ready, and time you actually spend doing the raid. I'd like to imagine that if people were more educated then the whining might stop. But that's probably hoping too much for humanity.

Edited by DigiOps: 8/7/2014 8:43:07 AMHit the nail on the head, but it isn't being driven into a coffin unfortunately. The worst is yet to come, friends. A few days (if that) after the game is officially in players' hands we'll see a torrent of "BIG MISTAKE!" threads.

Power to the challengers.
-
The whiners are likely bad players who will go and die to easily avoidable stuff, like standing in the fire, I know the type from playing WoW. The game was infested with them. Gotta keep them out of raids so good players can enjoy a challenge and teamwork.
-
Many are giving alternatives to help with the situation, small improvements to the game, have a list in game of your current online clan mate, an orbit like area when you choose to go to the raid so you can see who is ready right there and inspect them to gear and such. The so called whiners might be the loudest but most are trying to make it better for all. The big difference with this games raid and a full blown mmo's is that others have at least a chat system in game to streamline the process, Destiny does not.
-
What if I am a hardcore gamer that has nobody to play with. I just want to play some raids without the serious nature that usually follows it.

$60? Thats all?
