I am very curious to know how good I and others actually are at Destiny pvp. What was your KDR and how many kills did you have? I want to make it clear that this post is in no way meant to brag. I dont even think im that good. Im just curious as to how the curve looks for this game. I ended with a KDR of just a hair under 2.0 with over 1000 kills. I really have no idea on how to gauge this. Also wanted to say that I never used vehicles. That may be an important factor. Please give your input. Much appreciated!

Edited by Ewoktapus: 9/2/2014 7:51:50 PM2.0 is average with no ranking system when it comes to skill level.

14 RepliesA K/D of 2.0 is almost average nowadays. Some get worse as the others get better, hardly anyone rests in between anymore. For the most part, I'd say the type of tv and your internet connection plays a huge factor. For me, I play using some shitty box tv with no input lag at all, but my internet sucks. I can react better but my hit detection blows typically, as people will ignore damage, so I lose a lot of gun fights when I shouldn't. Playing video games with pvp is becoming more and more of a thing everyone does owning a console in their household now, so that's also why I believe it's inevitable these people who do play will only continue to get better. I remember back in the day, playing CoD 4 and a little later when people didn't even know how to turn around or use their mini-map. Those days are long since gone haha.

Mines 2.53 and I had around 650 kills, if I'm not mistaken.

Mine's a .94... but that includes the deaths from people in the OP vehicle and me trying to find which gun I find the most comfortable. I'm sure my KDR will be above 1.0 when the full game releases. I'm that one guy that gets a .6 KDR in CoD on average but usually gets higher than a 2.0 in games like Halo.

Endless kdr threads. Give me strength.... Im willing to bet the OP has a decent enough stat. People with 'crap' kdr don't start threads like this.

K/D is cool and all, but I wish there was a ranking system where I could be matched up with people at the same skill level.

Edited by Nyx Moontide: 8/2/2014 10:18:25 PMI play differently depending on mood, and I've had games around 4/5, one really good game at 8, but average ever so slightly above a 2.

I got a 1.76 KD with 667 kills, not bad but not as good as I could hope to achieve. Hopefully full game will be better.

5 RepliesI'm around 2 as well. I normally rock around 3.5 + in most fps if im trying hard. I would say its difficult to achieve a 3+ k/d in destiny since the radar tracks movement/presence rather than gunfire so camping isn't really possible and the supers can just insta kill you regardless of skill. A 2+ in destiny is probably better than a 2+ in most other games.

I got but -blam!- the first day or two because I was lone wolfing it around. Last day or so got into a strike team of 6 and it all changed. Got my cape from Iron Banner and k/d back up. Around 1.3 now. Only regret is I didn't have more time.

7 RepliesI call for a Damage dealt/Damage taken ratio instead, because kill steals. I also call for a game mechanic where team score doesn't increase without at least one control point being held. it is lame for a game called control to play like TDM and not requiring you to CONTROL anything... Third, taking control points should be worth more points, because the objective of the game should be more important than your K/D Lastly ranking list based on total points accumulated in crucible. Make those scores matter!

Edited by VIK_DOOM: 8/2/2014 9:41:04 PMDoesnt matter to me IMO because it always depended if you were on the good team or the one getting wrecked with half the points, I've been in matches where everyone in my team had 2.0 kd and up and I've been in matches where everyone in my team (Including me) could barely manage a 1.0 kd. And it seemed to me like the longer you played in the same lobby, the more unbalanced it got. One time we got wrecked, I finished second in my team, next match, it was the same teams except they had our MVP and we had their worst player.. needless to say we got wrecked again. I have an average of 2.3 kd in BF4 after 40k kills so I'm not that bad too so I think something is really wrong with matchmaking balance in Crucible. I understand Fireteams won't get split but was I really facing a full fireteam half the time?

1 ReplyFirst - If there is a vihicle on the map, use it. We don't want the enemy to have it, right? How do you play the game, playstyle? K/D is telling us nothing more then you have died some fewer times. K/D is based on how few times you died, not killed. If your match ends at 4-1 and your friend ends at 20-10. You will have a better K/D but Probably have done a less good job for your team. My choice is 20-10.

Edited by Lovell: 8/2/2014 9:28:16 PMAnything above positive is beneficial. If you have less than 1.5 i would hope you were capturing some flags to give the team some multiplier bonus. Although the time of your kills and time of your deaths are even more important. Getting a 1.5kd for example, and dying while the enemy team has more flags or killing while the enemy has more flags. Would actually put you in the negative as far as points are concerned.

I checked my KDR mid-Beta, and the Destiny app told me it was 4.1 (everyone else saw 0.77). The next day I checked again, and it was 0.85 (this one being more accurate). I think it's safe to say I need some practice.

1 ReplyI don't know, I played mostly iron banner when it was open. Had some pretty good games, led my team to victory more than once. Had a hell of a good time except 9/10 games on the moon. I don't know wtf to say about my luck on that map.
