What do you all think if they added an engineer class type for a forth character class? Similar to Borderlands Commando classes and mechromancer class or even Killzone's engineer, or Star Wars battlefront engineer class for examples. Rather what if they came up with an all new class altogether? What all would it be like if they added one? Your opinions?

Also, they would have kits, packs, belts, or whatever you want to call them.

I think it would be a pretty cool supportive class, and more control focused rather than damage. For starters, they wouldn't have anything special with grenades. Grenades would be pretty typical because I have a different idea in mind. For their throwable (ranged thing, whatever you want to call it), I think it would be SUPER cool if was some kind of metal disc with light (or darkness, whatever) imbued to it to give either your teammate's buffs, or you can throw it at an enemy to debuff it and things around it. For example, if I had a void subclass (or of the sorts), I could throw it on a teammate to give them volatile rounds, or maybe have a pulse shoot out every 15 seconds for 30 seconds that causes enemies to become volatile. But if I threw it onto an enemy, it would cause enemies around it to become volatile and stuff (or maybe even weaken their attacks a little?). Arc would be some kind of electrical aura thing, or possibly a minor stun pulse every 6 seconds. As for class ability, it could be some kind of turret, or maybe even a debuff rift (like a healing rift, but debuffing) that kills things around it within some radius. If it was a turret, it would be damagable, or it could also be some kind of distraction that takes only like 10% of damage for 8 seconds, then take twice the damage once that time was up. Also, these things are called augments. As for the jump, it could be a non-spamable jump, that could go high, but then fall fast like some kind of quick repositioning jump (and could also possibly give a minor speed boost when you land). This is somewhat necessary, especially since this is a crowd control/support class. As for supers, would be some kind of device that they could put on themselves, or throw some kind of thing (a little like Silence and Squall), or even just shoot a huge aura around themselves to progressively debuff everything in it's vicinity, I feel like the possibilities are endless. It also wouldn't hurt to have the minor ability to... repair vehicles (although that would just be for fun, and could take a while to do such things). It would be funny, as "the light can do strange things, Guardian, even fixing my FREAKING CAR." Anyway, especially because Bungie is working on other stuff, (and cause they already added strand, stasis and stuff), this probably won't be a possibility. But because the combination of wide area damage, debuffs, support, and grenades (obviously) would make this class a sufficient and surprisingly OK subclass. Also, the name shouldn't be an "engineer" (although that is pretty much what it is), it should be called Augmentor, derived from the word "augment," the definition being "make (something) greater by adding to it; increase," especially because you can add to your teammates, but subtract from your enemies. (Also, it'd be pretty annoying if you threw an arc augment on an entire party, and they just died, cause every second, it would take away like an 1/8 of their health. It would also be timed in a way where wouldn't be able to regenerate for like, 5 seconds. The aura I mean, would last for 5 seconds). To be frank, I'm just a random guy who wanted to make an account to share my voice. Destiny 2 is awesome, and I just thought this idea would be super cool. Also Bungie, if you're reading this, just consider it. You don't need to make it so that you can harness the darkness through technology right away. Just make it the 3 basic subclasses first. Also, aspects could affect what your augments do, or maybe even class abilities. Just saying.

3 RepliesThere's no more adding stuff ass of how much time it would take to do the characters and come up with a whole new set of armour catagory, which also means they would need to brainstorm hundreds of ides to what it'd be called and it's abilities. so no, I'm glad there not adding big stuff or it'll extend the release date.

What are you gunna do as an engineer, fix you vehicles when they are almost destroyed? Repeat?
-
Turns ghost into killing machine.... yup!

Titan- Tank / defense Hunter- Good single target damage Warlock- Incredible AoE effects / damage Engineer- Summons little guys to help, Hoorah. So a supportive as well Sounds cool! But even still I think the three classes are enough

1 ReplyEdited by FairlySplendid: 7/31/2014 11:45:02 PMI don't see how adding any additional classes at this point would benefit the game. The three classes pretty much cover all the bases and the entire spectrum of Destiny mechanics.

1 ReplyI don't think that there should be more classes. It would be cool to have more subclasses.

1 Replyengineer is usaly a support class so u want a second titan
-
I was actually just thinking about this.

1 ReplyPlease no pet class.

They need to be super carefull with adding more classes to make sure one does not make the other obsolete in any way. One thing you have to consider is the classes vital role in a team as well as the ability to make it a lone wolf if the player chooses.

How about instead of an engineer we have a sofa class type. That will make campers happy. Whenever someone comes up to it they drop their gun down the back of the sofa then while they try to get it a big purple ball bounces out and kills them. :D

3 RepliesEdited by Enigmatech: 8/1/2014 12:06:24 AM+1 I'd like some type of 4th class that throws out something like turrets, decoys, or drones.
-
They have painstakingly worked on the three that we are going to play as. This implies that large amounts of thought and enormous amounts of work were used in the balancing of these classes. Adding a fourth would effectively break all of that work into a worthless mess.
-
i think having a class that deploys turrets and such promotes a very defensive/campy sort of playstyle and doesn't really fit with the fast pacedness of destiny.

I don't know how it would work on Destiny, being able to repair or sabotate vehicles in PvE would be extremely useless. Maybe with abilities like sentry, ammo case, little droppable shields, anywayI can't do a good theory crafting from scratch right now so my ideas are pretty dumb.... Oh right,I would make the super like this: When you activate the super you have a limited time to deploy the sentry, with upgrades you can deploy more than one sentry or just one but stronger.

Would love to see and engineer class type With abilities ranging from drones, sentry turrets, to so summoning full on turret And a creation of a raider type the uses imobilizing, grappling hook, yanking people out of vehicles,to summoning a pike.
