I had a GameCube (Eternal Darkness ftw) and had no intention of buying the giant slab of black plastic that was the Xbox. Then at the local Game store, there was a demo of this game called Halo that I had a vague awareness of. Five seconds into the level Silent Cartographer and I was hooked, even though the look wasn't inverted and I kept dropping grenades at my feet. Ten minutes later and I was handing over a painful amount of money to drag that huge machine full of Bungie fun back home.
And that was before my nephew and I discovered co-op....
I had that rush of nostalgia last weekend, arriving on the moon, taking out units of enemies, crossing a landscape on a vehicle looking for missing information. The Moon was the Silent Cartographer. I was home.
