I think that progress should NOT carry over.
One reason.... and it's more important in this game than any other since next gen has been released.
Modders....
It would be VERY simple to mod your save game on the 360 version, then transfer your modded character to xbone.
It's already happened once for COD Ghosts. There were no 10th prestige/unlock all lobbies on the xbone, but it was simple to do on the 360. All people did was pop in their 360 version, mod their stats, and it all transfers to xbone.
That's not too bad, it's just levels, right?
Now think about Borderlands 2 and how ridiculous the modded weapons, stats, and skill trees were in that game.
If the same principle could be applied, it would be easy to mod all your guns, levels, and stats on the 360 and become a super stud on xbone version.
Someone please, correct me if I'm wrong, but I see this being a MAJOR problem with this game. Especially in modes like "Iron Banner" when your characters actual stats have impact on PvP matches.

So just to shoot a hole into this, but your progress does carry over.
-
And another side note, servers are all online, so like Halo, if they see/find modded content, they'll let Thor drop the Banhammer on you.
-
Reasons for transfer is because when Destiny 3 and 4 come out, they might be next gen only. And no one wants to start all over
-
Uhhh it's already been confirmed it does
-
It does carry over. It had been confirmed. It also would not hurt anything really s far as stats are concerned. And it encourages people to move on to the next gen console, especially for the dlc and next game.
-
Youre such an idiot....
-
Gamesaves are already shared across platforms, just not between xbox and PS.
-
1 ReplyYour data is not saved locally it is server based. This is why Destiny is online only. Your data is linked to your BNet account which is linked to your gamertag/PSN name. Therefore you can go between consoles and use the same characters. Even the beta worked this way. I switched between X360 and X1 using the same save, it was also this way on PS.
-
They already said that it does carry over you idiot
-
It should automatically
-
In the beta it was.. I played on the ps4, then installed it ob the ps3 for my sisters.. they played with my toons.. And I couldnt logg in while they were playing.. was all on my account
-
2 RepliesIt's not really a matter of carrying over. It's just "there". A simple way to explain it is playing a game like WoW on your above average pc and then getting stuck playing on your Grandma's crappy computer. Same characters, all saved on the game's servers, but the game looks nicer on the better pc.
-
The difference is that everything about your character is stored and saved on Bungie's own servers, not on your own device. you would have to hack those in order to mod your save. It isn't as simple as with borderlands. Bungie has already stated that you will be able to transfer your saves.,
-
Well seeing as how it's tied to your Bungie account, I would venture it would probably happen (though I forsee a potential upgrade fee for the game content I.e. Download)
-
They already said you'll be able to move characters between generations (ps3 to 4 and vice versa). But it looks like profile data isn't only saved locally, which might make it more difficult for modders- though given enough time I'm sure they'll find a way around it.
-
This game may not even be modable...but if it is as modable as say Borderlands...oh boy
-
They said yes. It's confirmed. End of story.
-
Im getting this game for the 360 and plan on getting an Xbox one early next year so it should allow a transfer
-
YOU DONT MOD YOU SIGN IN WITH YOUR MICROSOFT OR PS ACCOUNT. If you don't want it to carry over sign in with a different account...
-
Progress already carries over to both at the same time. I played beta on 360 and Xbone. the stats/progress carried over to both.
-
1 ReplyEven then, it's all tied to your Gamertag or ID. Considering the game is pretty much all online, I highly doubt that your profile isn't your means of storage anyways.
-
3 RepliesCharacters and items transfer from console generation to console generation.
-
2 RepliesEdited by Monty: 7/31/2014 5:47:26 AMBungie have already stated that characters can be carry in between versions with in the same brand (Xbox 360 <---> Xbox One or PS3 <---> PS4) since our characters are bound to our bungie account Ps: correct me if I'm mistaken
-
one simple fix that already exists, "Report Player", bungie looks at their stats, weapons, level, kd, report "fame", and what I found cool is that since they can also play the game they can send in a spy to focus on what the player does and watch game footage to see what is the matter, there is your fix to hackers, guardian.
-
Characters from Destiny will move on to Destiny 2 and so forth. By then more people would have adopted the current generation of console. So in short, yes.
-
Already does. Did in the BETA, will in the game.
