You'd think that people so obsessed with level cap would do some real research into how you get past level 20. It's a gear thing, not experience. In Destiny, the primary purpose of your level is really to determine how you scale toward enemies anyway. If you noticed in the Beta (and Alpha) you were able to continue learning new skills after you hit the cap. That's because for all intents and purposes level and skills are separate. I expect that when you get your second subclass your character level will remain the same and any new experience you get will just learn those abilities. People need to realize that the levelling in this game is different from an MMO or typical RPG. There is no "level cap", there is a maximum amount of levels you can gain from pure experience (which is 20) and the rest depends on gear stats.

  • Too many posts have been made about the level cap and honestly it's becoming irritating. It seems as though no one understands how the system works even after it has been explained several times, even by Bungie themselves. I personally don't see what is so hard to understand about it. You gain experience, you level to 20 with said experience, and then you gain gear which you use to level past 20. Yet we still have all of this nonsense speculation about, "Level cap isn't going to be 20, what do you think it is?" I'm glad there are a few people out there who understand what Bungie is trying to do. It's a shame people can't just do some simple research before making a damn post anymore.
