Hand cannons as you know (even though some people like using them still) fall very short in the primary category. So, I had an idea. We can move the hand cannon to the special slot and do one of two things: Make it extremely powerful with only about 15 shots total (5 or 6 in cylinder). Making the gun like a sniper that will one shot headshot and two shot body shot. This can be balanced by both a very very low rate of fire, and a slow reload.
-OR-
You can keep it like it is but in the special slot, as a less powerful special in trade for having much more ammo in reserve opposed to only 15-18 shots maximum.
Let me know what you think about that, if you have any questions or suggestions in the idea, I'll respond and change whatever I see is a good idea. Post your ideas here as well!
Edit: Somebody mentioned that they don't agree with the one shot headshot. I forgot to mention that it's only one shot if you are very close to your enemy, like a little longer than shotgun range. (longer so that it balances the gun with shotguns at close range if you are accurate). This should make it a marksman's favorite, if you hit a shot, you get rewarded, if you miss, or get a body shot at close range, it will get you killed almost every time.
Edit #3: As far as suggestion 2, any RoF buffs and other things that would be needed to make the primary up to par could be changed there. I just thought move the hand cannon we know to special so you can carry a rifle with you, as well as that hand cannon you love, not one or the other, and that will solve the problem of it being slightly lacking in ammo, you have your rifle as backup rather than having to switch to a special with only 15 shots, and hope you get primary ammo from it.
This whole idea is a concept. It could fail, it could explode, it could be lost forever, I just want to see where it goes.
2 RepliesI completed the Strike with a hand cannon and had a great time. I'm happy with it the way it is. I'm bloody awful with it in PVP though.

See the spoiler that I just added. It seems as if the concept is failing, and I'm fine with that. I wanted to see the feedback I would get from this. It all helps Bungie anyways.
-
4 RepliesI would rather keep it as a primary, give it shit range and make it a 2 shot headshot

Bungie started out with it in the special slot and after testing, moved it to primary because testers were never using it as a special. Good luck getting what you want. They changed it to what it is before the very first alpha test.

A solution? Get gud.

4 Replies*sigh* No, keep it as a Primary. It's perfectly fine there and offers something other than a rifle for people who are bored of those. Keep overall damage the same, but increase the headshot multiplier so that it falls somewhere between Scout and Sniper Rifles. Decrease range so you can't pop people's heads at anything beyond medium range. Speed up reload speed a bit. Maybe add an extra round in the cylinder.

Practice!

4 RepliesEdited by GriffinRSX: 7/29/2014 8:49:42 PMI type on my phone most of the time, I mess up quite a bit, that's why I try to take time to proofread. Forgot to check the title though :P If you don't like the idea, tell me, but please don't appear hostile about it, I'm trying to correct and grow on this idea, not get shot down on something that could help the game as a whole.

Right at the end of the beta I had really good games with the Hand Cannon against those AR's... Got dusted a few times but my best game with it was 24kills 4 deaths. I think a fair a balance would be a slightly higher base damage. (Reincarnate Halo's Magnum!)

*smacks the back of your head, like I do to anyone suggesting taking it our from primary* as long as the gun is viable to use on its own merits that's fine, if you don't wanna use then don't, but some of us likes a gun that's a little difficult to use.

Priblem Child.

1 ReplyMy only priblem with this idea is the OSK headshot.
