Finally someone else gets it! I've been saying this for a while, but everyone just yells at me and is like "It's just a Beta".
However, the boundaries of what's in the full game and just in the beta are pretty clear. They restricted us with dark cloud walls and gates in the beta where we can go in the full game. The Turn Back areas are just not playable period. The map we see when we travel to a planet is IT. That has all of the locations including the ones we weren't allowed to go to in the beta.
I also was expecting a Skyrim, GTA, Red Dead type world after the video where he says "All this is playable space" Turns out that is a lie.
I was also expecting to be able to explore and run into towns, interesting NPCs, convoys, traders, etc. There is NOTHING in the open areas that make it feel like a living world. It feels more like an arena where your character is dropped to go hunting aliens.
The Moon was the biggest disappointment. You get dropped off in this beautiful area and I turned around and saw what looked like a crashed ship behind a hill. I take 5 steps towards it and I immediately get a Turn Back screen and die. Also, there are hills even within the map that you can't go up because of invisible walls.
Super disappointed by the world that Bungie pitched

i see what you mean bro, although i am still very excited for the game. remember that they did say the world will expand. after all their making this game last 10 years. i just hope the expansions will bring that too us. i believe we'll all be satisfied in the end bro. but i agree with you.

I see you're point and I promise I am not arguing. But, the play area of Destiny has all but been destroyed by aliens, so it does make sense why there isn't anything like that. It would be cool, but it doesn't fit the story they've created.

Skyrim definitely felt more alive than Old Russia.

.......you mean an RPG focused on exploring in an area that's not overrun with hostile aliens felt more alive than a destroyed section of a combat zone in an FPS? Who'd a thunk it
