I just want to see if someone can give me a calm and clear reason as to why they don't like Halo 4. I personally loved it but I never played much of Halo until reach so it was harder for ME to enjoy the older ones. Also everyone hates Reach's story when IMO it was amazing simply bc you ARE the spartan in the story. Maybe it's just bc I'm newer to the Halo series, idk, just curios to know why people hate the Halo games I thoroughly enjoyed.

No offense, but I haven't seen a halo 4 hate thread in awhile, please be careful because I don't want those to be revived

1 ReplyIt's a downgrade in ever aspect from Reach. Campaign: The story wasn't very interesting, the Prometheans weren't any fun to fight, and for the most part it just felt like they designed cool set pieces first, and then tried to connect them with a story after. I just didn't feel invested in it at all, especially with all the QTEs (especially the final one). I honestly felt nothing but annoyed when they killed off Cortana, which really disappointed me because they missed the opportunity to make me actually feel sad at that moment like I was supposed to. They just handled it poorly. Multiplayer: Reach was already a departure from what we expected from Halo on this front, but at least it still was fun. Halo 4 took what Reach did and essentially completed the jump of making it into CoD in space, except it wasn't nearly as fun as CoD. Orbital drops, custom loadouts, AA's; it just didn't feel like Halo anymore, and it lost its luster very quickly. The only thing I could bring myself to play a bit after launch was domination because that was a cool new addition, but even that got stale quick. Forge: This one bugged me the most honestly. There's so much wrong with Forge I can't even remember it all. Magnets are alright, but they can be pretty annoying to use at times because things usually don't end up lining up properly with the coordinate grid because of it. It's still much better to just use the coordinate system alone, but even then that isn't always the best option because 343 designed some of the pieces so poorly that they don't even line up properly unless you use the magnet feature, and even then, they still don't fit together the way you wanted them to.Trait zones are cool, but I still feel limited in what I can do with them. Not to mention they got rid of a lot of cool gametypes and items that would have been really useful to use. It also felt like they really didn't design the maps with forging in mind. Walls are often on angles that can't be matched unless you rotate the object freely, and that's just a pain to deal with. All the maps that are supposedly designed for forging happen to be too small and/or have zero flat zones for forging on. Forge Islands didn't help either because they added in flat zones, but there's no interesting terrain or structures on them. They fixed a bad thing, but took away a good thing in its place. To top it all off, for some reason it just doesn't feel fun to forge anymore in it. Custom Games: As mentioned before, they removed a lot of good gametypes, and they removed quite a few options from the ones that remained. I don't really recall all the problems I had with custom games at launch because I haven't touched Halo 4 in about a year or more, but I know I was upset. Infection was definitely one of them, what with the fact you really couldn't do much with the Infected team as far as customizaton goes. Spartan Ops: It was alright, fun even at times, but it wasn't amazing. Most of it was just the same maps being used over and over again with slightly different objectives. It got old pretty fast. The only interesting part about it was the story, and even that wasn't amazing. I would have much preferred if they just expanded upon the customization options found in Reach's Firefight mode rather than replace Firefight all together. Theater: Reach's downgrade was already disappointing considering you could only have one person in it at a time. Halo 4 just made it worse though by limiting what modes you could even use it in. That's my overall complaints about Halo 4. As previously mentioned, I haven't played Halo 4 in over a year, so I can't provide everything I hated about it because I don't really recall the specifics with total clarity.

They did not include many Halo 3 and Reach things. But they did include many CoD things. Also, eggheads.

3 RepliesI'll make this simple. Most of us had no problem with the campaign. Most of us didn't like the multiplayer because halo was one of, if not, the biggest arena shooter ever made. It is no longer an arena shooter.

Halo 4 Spartan Ops were horrible
-
Halo Reach was one of my fave halo's up there with CE and ODST but the story doesnt fit into the canonical timeline but halo 4 was just a mess they tried to change too much from halo in both storyline and multiplayer and in my opinion it just didnt work. Though i know alot of ppl who love it i just couldnt get into it was like trying to play halo 2 all over again after the masterpiece of CE
-
Awful multiplayer is the main reason.
-
Well for one thing, Halo 4 was a step down from Halo: Reach in every conceivable way in terms of quality (aside from the campaign, which even then was still mediocre).

2 RepliesEdited by Blazin Phoenix: 7/28/2014 6:35:10 PM- No ODST helmet at launch - No Phoenix/Dreamcatcher emblem 0/10 Would not play again.

1 ReplyEdited by DorkLord54: 7/28/2014 8:26:00 PM- Campaign was short and highly linear, even compared to Bungie standards. - IMO, the story was weak, and the antagonist even weaker*. - Cringeworthy ending, both in terms of the actual gameplay involved and the dialogue - Spartan Ops was a huge disappointment that had a lot of potential. - Multiplayer: the less said, the better. *This complaint can be levelled against Bungie as well, but that does not mean it is not valid.

Edited by Oddball: 7/28/2014 6:48:53 PMReach's story -blam!-ing sucks.
-
1 ReplyI liked the campaign and spartan ops but "war games" didn't feel like i was playing halo more like cod
-
3 RepliesAs far as campaign, I feel like it was severely lacking the feel of the rest of the Halos. It was way too short and definitely to easy. The multiplayer, on the other hand, was absolutely amazing.

Halo 4, like Halo 2, had shitty and broken multiplayer at first. 343 failed to address any of the issues quickly. By the time progress was made the population was already abysmally low.
-
1 ReplyPeople didn't like Reach because it broke canon and had awful maps, bloom, and armor abilities People didn't like 4 because it took competitive gameplay and added a bunch of random shit
-
343 studios made a halo version of call of duty basically ruining the multiplayer. So after you beta the campaign there is nothing to do.
-
3 Repliesafter halo 3 which i would arguably say was one of they greatest games ever, they just started dumbing the halos down. reach gave people classes which sucked because the OGs were used to fighting for the power weapons and it just got even worse with armor abilities. same with halo 4 it was terrible because of the ordinance drops. you could have 3 people on the same team with all rocket launchers it just ruined the competitive part of it.
-
Because most people play halo because they want an arena shooter experience. Halo four deviated from that path quite a bit, so most of the older fans hate it.

1 ReplyI think it was too easy. It had no challenge. Campaign sucked compared to previous. Multiplayer sucked and was too easy, and it didn't FEEL like a core halo game. It felt kinda like another cod spinoff. Back when all you had was a slow walk rate, a tiny never moving cursor, a smooth, bland, ok damage assault rifle, and a pistol that had firerate limitations. And dual wield. And no sprint. No ordnance. No perks. No classes. One/two frags, if that. And brs were simple and mighty awesome.
