In my opinion this class is far more useful than the Warlock and Titan class in a PVP setting.
First of all their jump is more predictable and easy to control. Playing as a warlock I can't tell you how many times I've had a jump mess up on me which could be especially bad playing on the Venus map.
Next up melee attack, the fact that a Hunter actually can use their throwing knife at a significant range, definitely gives them an advantage over Warlock and Titan who have to be right on top of the enemy to use their melee attacks. Even if it is only one knife that then has to be cooled down, it's still a pretty good advantage to have another range ability.
Lastly is the golden gun, you get 3 shots and a fairly significant amount of time, where you also become tougher to kill, to use all 3 of your shots. Now granted it may not be as easy to deal with a larger group as Warlock's Nova Bomb, but I can say playing a handful of matches on mars, there is a big drawback to using the Nova Bomb in tight quarters with a lot of random things in the environment that can block the Nova Bomb. (I had my Nova bomb get caught on a street light pole outside on Mars, as well as the overhand on the ceiling at objective B.)
TLDR version: Hunter is an overall better choice in terms of ability and ease of use for PVP than the other two classes.
What do you guys think?

Who say that!? My only character is Hunter

Because Vortex Grenade is hideously good. Although that may just be because the average players are too stupid to stay out it. And I felt Double Jump was the weakest jump ability. Lift was a nice booster, but Glide gives you straight-up flight. I have no trouble controlling it at all, especially since the very first upgrade for it enhances steering. And how is Glide unpredictable? You just double-tap the jump button and away you go, in whatever direction you were already moving.

Cuz I like warlocks

Honestly I prefer the Titan because there was this one time I used my super on a flag that 6 were capping and just killed there whole team I was screaming xbox record that but apparently I was broadcasting when I hadn't even opened the twitch app that day and didn't get the clip

With so many variables, the likelihood of PVP being completely balanced is 0. You can't expect it to be perfect. It's not saying Bungie is bad, it's just acknowledging where that imbalance is. I think it's hard to argue that a class that can go invisible, has the longest ranged supers, is the fastest and hardest to hit, and only has slightly less armor than the slow CQ class is not the most privileged class. There are certainly situations where other classes fare better, but overall, hunters have the best, most versatile attributes. The only two disadvantages I see them have are that their supers can't demolish a large group huddle, and they have slightly less armor than the Titan. But being harder to hit negates the first issue, and the second doesn't come into play much because the hunter's style is probably distance play or lone stealth. Plus, grouping usually only happens significantly in objective style games.

1 ReplyEdited by Hylebos: 7/28/2014 7:43:45 PMI enjoyed being the only Warlock on my team of Hunters :)
The Warlock's Glide isn't too bad once you get the timing down consistantly, and it is so much fun to float super high above entrances / exits to areas and drop down on people like a meteor when they run in underneath you, looking left and right for where you might be. People haven't quite learned that motion detectors convey elevation in addition to cardinal direction, I've been abusing that a lot :) I also enjoyed the Nova Bomb for it's abillity to consistantly take down an Interceptor on the Moon. The Warlock's Vortex grenade, even without it's conveyance issues factored in, is also better than the Hunter's grenade in my opinion.
15 RepliesYour forgetting that the Titan can take three melee in iron banner when he has max armor, and his special ability gives him invulnerability while he uses it. His special melee and the warlocks special melee are always instant kills, while the hunter NEEDs to always get a head shot to get an instant kill( do you know how hard that is in multiplayer? When people are always jumping around and ding a whole bunch of other stuff) and the Golding gun you can complain that is op but in reality you need to be very skilled to use is b/c it's not a one click you smash the ground or shot a void blast. When you use it your very vulnerable and Can get killed easily while your pulling the gun out and you have to be very accurate to even get kills. You also keep the same base health that everyone else has so if someone gets the jump while he is using the gun you can still kill him as of he wasn't even using the golden gun. There a lot more stuff that goes into it but I think I made my point.

The hunter is technically the best but I play for fun and I prefer the Titan. And I have moral differences against hunters.

1 ReplyEdited by pogokitten: 7/28/2014 7:20:00 PMYeah, in you freaking opinion. In my opinion Warlock is best, in his opinion Titan is best, in her opinion they're all as good as each other. Get it? It's an opinion. In the majority of the Public Hunter is weakest but in your opinion Hunter is strongest so that's fine. But not everyone thinks the same as you. Not everyone wants to play as Hunter.

*Blows you up with a void bomb*

I think youre right. I noticed the exact same issues while playing. Idk how to balance it without nerfing everything about the hunter. But it needs it.

Edited by Dozzer: 7/28/2014 6:48:04 PMTitan all the way

Edited by Johnny GT1: 7/28/2014 6:15:23 PMI use the hunter class myself and I think it's pretty good because it's suits my style. I also think the other classes are pretty bad ass them selves from what I seen from my friends that use them. So overall they're all good, just choose the one that suits you the best.
-
3 RepliesI think you have a good solid opinion on why you like the Hunter. Does that mean the other classes are at a disadvantage in PvP or PvE? No. Does it mean the Hunter is the only class viable in PvP? No. My main is a Titan and I do rather well for myself and have no issues taking care of any class. Its the skill of the player and how their playstyle meshes with the class. Not any class in particular.
-
And they've got decent armor and crazy speed. Their super can kill from range, but you have to get fairly close with the other classes. Yet warlocks have crap armor and ok speed. Everyone complains about the warlock super, but forget how crappy the stats are otherwise. So the warlock has a good super he can use a couple times a game? So what. And like you said, the nova bomb can easily get caught up. Not to mention it will be far less useful on gametypes that don't bunch people up on objectives. Warlocks will usually only get one kill out of their ability, whereas the hunter can get 3 at range (and more if piercing ammo). Factor in the subclass in the full release, and hunters have the best class by far.
-
The hunters Arc subclass will be the reason pvp will be broken. Pvp will be nothing but hunters.
-
I disagree I think that the skill of the player is more important than what class they pick. Plus I prefer warlock and think hunters if not used correctly are possibly one of the worst choices for pvp.

I actually enjoy my Titan class thoroughly. The fist of havoc is great for surprising enemies around corners and controlling zones. Especially when that super continues to pulse blasts after a period of time. I'm always getting that postmortem medal. Planning out an attack on a interceptor or a turret with their super can be pretty delicious. I also notice that one of the higher level options for fist of havoc is that it can be shot as a wave later on. I'm hoping that's amazing as it sounds. Out of all the classes I enjoy the titans jet pack the best. I feel like its got a better lift and faster travel time. The Titan will be the tank out of the 3 when the full length game comes out I imagine. What do you think?
-
Dude a flashbang grenade basically means you wasted your super if it goes off before you kill the Titan the grenade gives the Titan just enough time to kill you. I've done it many times the hunter super is flawed and easy to counter if they don't get the drop on you. But I will also say they aren't bad if used correctly. I have a friend who plays hunter very well. So I'd say it depends on who you run into if a Titan flashbang a you they can kill you before you can see again and by then you've wasted your super is all I'm saying

1 ReplyI'm a warlock but hunter is beast. U can single shot any vehicle, that alone is amazing. I would never say nerd it though leave everything as is
-
6 RepliesI almost always killed them while using their golden gun. (Slide+shotgun, fusion rifle). You also seem to lack the ability to mentally preload the jump on other classes, the hunter jump didn't reach as high as the warlock, and the Titan could kill as many as 7 enemies at a time, your hunter is only 3. But hey, if you want to make the warlock more unique, go right ahead.
-
Edited by Play Pretend: 7/28/2014 4:34:08 PMI'll stick to my Warlock. I had all 3 classes to lvl 8 and the Warlock was my favorite.
-
8 RepliesHunter all the way! Is yourself who suck using hunter and not Hunter itself! Why point at hunter when your skill is suck ? I have no issue playing hunter .
-
Yeah, I think hunter is best for PvP, but I find them boring to play with. The golden gun, double jump, melee and grenades just don't seem as cool as the other two class equivalents.
-
You're forgetting most people only had half of one subclass. The level 3 codexes/skill upgrades could change dramatically how agile or how fast the other classes recover. This isn't even factoring in the lvl 15 subclasses.
