What the Open World Needs

I believe making the open world feel more "Open" it needs a few things. Add whatever you believe it needs too. 1. Wildlife: I saw this moments ago and it got me thinking that it would make the world feel more alive. 2. Camps and/or caravans: Adding machines like the ones from the tower to distribute missions and possibly even make minor trades of some sort possible. 3. Weather: Changing weather would make the world seem more real and offer a new feel to the combat in roam making it feel more realistic in a way. And preferably regionally appropriate weather. Edit: the wildlife would not be what we have today but twisted creatures from the hive that look like animals roaming the planets and moons that they inhabit. And the camps or caravans could have guardians protecting the machines. Apparently people take these posts as demands for extreme content changes so I'll say this. These are only my ideas for what could be added in the future at some point not for what needs to be done by release. Please no comments stating that anyone has a bad idea, if you're not being positive you're being a hinderance.

    • I'd like the enemy AI to instead of just camping in the same spot they spawn at. They can walk around the area. Investigating, seeing if there is any form of life they can kill.

      World weather events such as a meteor strike on the moon or gas tornadoes on Venus. I'm sure people can think of much better ones, but I hope this gets some people's brains going.

    • 1) Would be nice but I think most of the wildlife are being killed off by everything else in the world currently. Seems to be a pretty hostile world and i dont most animals would survive. 2) Would be a welcome thing to see. 3) yes please.

    • I was thinking about some epic event where no matter where you are, you get a message from your ghost something like this: "Guardian, I've received an urgent distress signal from the Speaker. Aparently a ship full of refugees has crashed and is in danger of being overrun. They desperately need your help." If you are at the tower, these six man drop ships arrive for you and your buddy to jump on. You might end up with some random dudes, but lets say 20 people are in the tower...18 respond, three six man drop ships arrive...everyone gets to go and each drop ship spawns a similar but seperate rescue mission...one group could end up on the moon, the other on Mars, etc...you dont have to go, but if you do, you have a grater chance at good loot. The missions would be hoard missions with wave of increasingly difficult enemies with a good, hard boss fight to end it...once the baddies are clwared out, a transpot ship can come in and ferry survivors.

        Agreed, the open world need's work. Also be nice if they would remove all the invisible barriers. Hopefully these were just symptoms of the beta and not final product results.

        • I agree with weather a thousand times over! There is not enough life in the open world, I'm fine with animals not being present (it's a lot of work to do those animations.) But weather could come in on a soft patch easily. Random traders and refugees in the various useless caves would be a good idea. Maybe even some hostile scavengers, sad but it is reality. The only time I feel the world is alive is during the events, those were an amazing idea! But then it's back to the sparrow to fly back and forth.....

          I think what this game's locations need far more than animals, camps or even weather is, to have more depht. So it stop's feeling like a glorified MMO map and more like a real adventous location. To do this some key things NEED to be taken into account; >More caves and other explorable locations, like dungeons, etc. Deep intresting and above all rewarding. >Less hard kill/soft kill/invisible boundaries (the bane of all immersion in a free roam environment). If we can see a cool looking location, we should be able to get there some how, to explore it. >Less obvious exploration aids (and fewer) such as roads and paths. A better way to do it is to have the gamer glimpse a cool looking building or location. You know: 'Cool whats that over there?' 'Can we get there?' On top of which you can (but don't necessarily have to) add other exploration prompts, such as groups of eniemes...

          • I'd like to see vendors while out exploring. I know outside the wall is dangerous, but the vendors should be hidden away or in hard to reach areas. That way you don't have to always go back to the tower.

            • I think you could have 'Transmat Trade Connection Sites'; trading posts where you sell stuff you don't need (which then can be bought by everyone on the Tower through any merchant in the 'Findings From the Wild' tab) (one of these'll be on the Tower too). This would 1: save the need for randomly generated Guardians to randomly generate and guard a very vulnerable and important trader. 2: Would save the FOC resources (60%). 3: Would provide a reason for how weapons/gear/STUFF is obtained. 4: Would save player's inventories from overloading from unwanted gear piling up and stalling their Jumpship. 5: Canon-viable. 6: Improves over your trading post idea.

            • There is so much stuff they need to add it kinda upsets me that they didn't think of it it's not really as open, and alive as they make it seem they really need to add yours and everyone else's ideas otherwise it'll get boring very fast
