It really bugs me that the moon has earth-like gravity. It also bugs me that the stars in the sky twinkle. The only reason stars appear to twinkle is because we have an atmosphere. The moon does not have an atmosphere, therefore stars should not twinkle. Neither should there be any wind that blows dust. Why did bungie hire level designers who have no concept of how space works?
And before you say "the traveler changed the moon and gave it an atmosphere", no it did not. Otherwise the sky would be cloudy and we wouldn't be able to see the stars whenever the sun came around.

All that and you wasn't bothered about the fact you can hear your guns and explosions and stuff? I'm okay with it all cos I'd rather just have fun playing a game rather than get all anal over small details in a fictional game
-
1 ReplyThe traveler gave a thin breathable atmosphere not a full one. It's large enough for gravity to become more prominent but thin enough for us to see the stars.
-
Well in the moon mission we were so generously granted yesterday, did u not catch that. The ghost said the ground beneath us is completely dense?listen guys
-
2 RepliesIf it was terraformed where are the plants? Answer me that traveler junkies.
-
To everyone trying to find a scientific explanation I have two word *aliens guy* "The Traveler"
-
We found a giant white sphere that made everything great for humanity life an opportunity on other planets *summons inner Walter white from the episode when the plane explodes* Aliens descend upon my planets and blow everything to shit they rained hell fire down on the very place I lived! there are men in coats who shoot giant purple balls out of their hands I can dance in the middle of a very tense firefight and you want to talk about gravity sir you can kindly go -blam!- yourself
-
I think the real question is... Did anybody notice mars? Now THAT is something.
-
Because its a game and they can do whatever the hell they want. I bet you're so fun at parties.
-
if you paid attention to the beginning of the game, the Traveler made planets such as Mars and Mercury (specifically making Mercury a "Garden World") habitable, including the moon. If Mercury became a Garden World, and if humans were able to build civilizations on planets that would most likely kill them before the Traveler was ever discovered, than that means the Traveler was capable of creating an atmosphere that could sustain life, thus the atmosphere on the moon results in the twinkling stars. also there are no visible bodies of water on the surface of the moon so likely there is no water to evaporate and form clouds. The Traveler also may, or did, create some possible form of gravity for the planets. I'm surprised you didn't argue about any gravity differences on Venus (though Venus does have gravity similar to Earth) or Mars, or the fact that Venus has trees and plants on it... and water/rain, like why isn't it deadly hot anymore? where did all the sulfuric acid clouds go? we may never know.

Love the logic. Im so fixated with shooting rockets Im not recognizing these natural factuals.
-
lol. People saying the traveler terraformed planets and moons. That's not the funny part. People said the exact opposite thing to the person wanting the helmets to be toggable. "I want people to see my character all the time," and people were all "guardians need those to survive space." Someone brings up how the moon has earth like conditions, and suddenly the planets are okay-dokey for livable atmosphere. My god people. wtf?
-
I'll admit I was a little disappointed that the moon had the same gravity. However, the quality of game play gives me enough reason to look over it. Inaccurate gravity is not game breaking, at least not to me.
-
Who knows how the Traveler affected the moon.
-
-
1 ReplyLets make a big deal about this in a game where people throw bombs out of their hands and are brought back to life.
-
You're right. Bungie should have hired you with your basic high school knowledge of science and not people who have worked in the game industry for 5+ years and have (most likely) attended post secondary institutions to get where they are today in life.
-
Actually, The Traveller terraformed planets and moons across the galaxy, and gave them atmospheres. When in doubt, look to The Traveler.

Edited by Talis: 7/27/2014 4:50:05 AMI saw a bird flying on the moon. That bird's the real MVP! He doesn't give a -blam!-!
-
If you can't accept the traveler did it. How about the suits compensate for gravity and the view screen allows you to see comforting twinkling stars and the occasional swirl of dust.
-
1 ReplyThe moon has been teramorphed by the traveler giving it earth like gravity and an atmosphere.
-
The Traveler terraformed the moon, he did the same for venus and mars.

8 RepliesEdited by A Dozen Bananas : 7/27/2014 4:15:39 AMDude there are BIRDS flying around. Yes BIRDS that means there is obviously an atmosphere, unless you wanna tell me that there is a little bird space station with bird astronauts wearing bird space suits. you can see them in first light and in the moon mission, and the reason there are no clouds is because oh I don't know maybe BECAUSE THERE IS NO WATER TO FORM CLOUDS WITH Edit: to all the douche bags that take my point too literally, I mean there are no LARGE bodies of water on the moon. There's water in the hellmouth so there is probably water elsewhere on the moon. But I don't see any oceans or even lakes for that matter. And maybe the traveler made special camel-birds that can go a really long time without water. So if your counter argument is that birds can't live without water(pdw1992). Shut up

It's a fantasy mythic science fiction game. It doesn't have to be real.
-
2 RepliesMy gr 11 earth science teacher would shit himself if he played this game

3 RepliesYou do realize that the Traveler made planets habitable? It mentions Mercury in the opening cutscene.

Edited by sergeantawesome: 7/27/2014 3:42:29 AMI have thought of this, I would think that the Traveler brought technology with it to a) terraform the moon and b) create a stable gravity on the moon. Of course, in the real world, we do not have the technology to do that yet (terraforming is possible to convert or give planets an atmosphere,) or it does not exist But who knows where the Traveler came from and what it brought with them, i.e. new elements that are non-existent on our planet or solar system. That could explain the "cloudless atmosphere" issue.
