The Last City Exploration???

Does anyone else think that exploring at least part of The Last City would be pretty sweet? It's huge when looking from the tower.

  • I think the only reason it's not in the game is because it is to big to implement

    • I believe that the tower is outside of the city becausr if you looke to the left or right off the balcony in the plaza their is a destroyed wall. if you look straight their are basically slums then a second wall that looks new then the city so i think the tower is outside the city.

    • I want my own condo in Destiny! It would add more stuff to do in the game. Instead of the constant grind to level 32, which will be pointless because then the next DLC comes out and the grind starts again (The grind in raids, is fun though because although it's the same way every time, it seems like new challenges always occur).

    • I'm thinking of yet another glimmer bucket. Areas should become accessible to players once they pay a single time tariff. The shopping districts would be separated by the cost of the tariff. Eventually, you'd need friends to get together to pay for a group tariff, which stays active for the PROFILE instead of the actual character. Naturally, higher-leveled players would pay less to unlock areas as they have become "famous" and "VIPs". Of course, if players don't want to make friends, they can't afford to pay the more advanced tariffs... WITHOUT THE GUARDIAN BANK THAT IS!!! Completing missions for the main quest or mini games for citizens will reward you with money that is stored in the GUARDIAN BANK for City purchases. Like a normal bank, you cam store glimmer in here and make revenue, and there's even loans! Loans are great because players can get money quickly to pay off the more pricey tariffs, but there's a danger. The player must pay weekly fines to pay off their debt. If the player manages to pay off their debt within the week, they get bank rep, which lowers the interest on loans as you rank up. If you DO fail to pay off your debt at any point, there will be many penalties. These include: - Your level will decrease by one for a month. - Enemies aggro on you more than normal. - The tariff which was purchased with the loan will be revoked. - You will have to wear a brown shader as a mark of shame. Wow, vicious penalties, right? Don't worry, though, there is a way to get rid of these debuffs. Simply get ahead of your debt within 30 days and you're back on track! All of this does two things: 1) It's something to do. 2) Teaches valuable life lessons about finances! Tell give me any suggestions and look for my root post!

Yes, personally I feel Destiny could have increased immersion and added a reason to play more by STARTING players in the last city. Imagine after the opening sequence and first mission into the wall you came to an unbeatable boss. Your saved by amazing warriors who decimate the enemy. They lead you through the rest of the wall into the last city. It would be here that you get your first view of the traveler hanging high above. You would then learn that your saviors are truly elite guardians just passing thru on their way to the tower. You would have to work your way up the ranks to meet them again. The last city's stark contrast with the glittering tower would be a constant reminder of what player's are striving towards. Hehe just realized I went far beyond a simple yes I agree, Its just I actually thought this was the route Bungie was going with this game. It would have been truly epic. Oh well still gonna play Destiny.

      • I wish to have my own condo in the last city, just a customizable little square of a house, and be able to stroll around, grab a pint at a bar, watch some Awoken strippers at a club, you know, normal things.

        • Yes and also like building your own house using your ghost instead of the spark. You have to use glimmer to do it and be a high level also make it so your friends can visit

          • Any of you realise that you like this mission so much (or at least it remained more in your memory) for the simple reason that's the only mission in the entire game that it allows you to play in a slightly different way?

          • anything more than what we currently have in the exploration category would be appreciated. I really don't think they know that this isn't an open world game. Just because you can go back to where you start, which is where you start every time you enter a planet regardless, does not make it open world. We can only hope that in the months to come that more areas of the planets are revealed, separate from any expansion, because having invested the amount of money that we have does not seem to justify how little we actually have.

          • Good idea but I have one speculation. The tower is the home for ALL guardians. Even if we went down to the city, why would they be selling weapons and armor? The tower is the guardians part of the city and the people have the rest. Though it would be nice to explore the city, I don't see any logical explanation as to why they would be selling weapons and armor. After all, we have all we need in the tower already.

            • Yeah, it weird that the place we're fighting for, we won't see in the game. I'm starting to hate this new DLC paradigm taking over games. It's just a money grab with no integrity for art or story. #imissfallout

            • Yeah that would be fun. There's the whole area under the Traveler. The Tower we seen is only a small part. Maybe we'll be able to explore other floors in the Tower.

            • No point having a huge explore area because there would be no enemys to fight as its the last safe city. No enemys-not much fun.
