MMO'S CAN HAVE SPLITSCREEN
Minecraft.
It's an extremely popular mmo, with millions of players online.
The console version has up to 8 players online, with 4 player splitscreen. If you want to join another person's game you can.
It has raids.
Portals.
Leveling up.
Coop
PvP
PvE
And has splitscreen.
Minecraft is an mmo, and also has splitscreen.
So it proves that it is possible for mmo's to have splitscreen.

6 RepliesI will say strait up that you can't really compare Minecraft to any other MMO... but then I also must add that splitscreen is absolutely possible in Destiny and other MMO games, it has already been stated that it is possible and may be included in a later iteration... whatever "later iteration" means, patch? destiny 2? dlc?

Yeah you can play multiplayer with idk maybe 16 or 32 ppl. But when I log on and run around I don't see millions of people running around in my world as we'll. therefore IT IS NOT AN MMO. What is with people nowadays callin everything a fckin mmo. Elder scrolls online is an mmo. swtor is an mmo. Wow is an mmo. Mine craft and destiny? BOTH NOT FCKIN MMOS! God your so dumb.

7 RepliesAgain, the people that want splitscreen are by FAR the minority here and the petition to add split screen proves that. 4.6 million people in the Beta and only like 500 people signed that petition.....maybe less. And 1 of those sigs was mine and i don't even want splitscreen. It's not happening. Bungie has stated why. They have stated it will not happen. Get over it. Move on.

Mmo = massive multiplayer online. How many people are on a minecraft server at once? More than a few thousand? Also from what I know the console version is a dumbed down version of the pc one ( could be wrong). It's a fundamentally different type of game. Also minecraft loads in chunks so you will experience lag on online servers. Destiny requires only one load. (Don't fully know how that works). There are too many differences. I've got nothing against split screen but your points just seem irrelevant. Pick a game that makes more sense like wow, diablo, dark/demon souls, etc.

2 RepliesMillions of players online.. and for every 8 people online there is 1 host, there is no common minecraft server, minecraft is no more an MMO than Call of Duty is a MMO, less so actually since you can have more than 8 people in matches. Destiny runs off of bungies servers, that means millions of people transferring information back and forth, real time stat tracking, and all that jibba jabba. Minecraft is up to 8 people at a time communicating with 1 host tracking actions.. the scale is definitely not equal. Not only that, as has been pointed out, minecraft is infinitely less straining on the console then destiny. I mean.. it hardly has any of the functions of the full PC version, unless that changed since the last time i played it, a pathetically small map area compared to PC, and of course worse graphics and physics than destiny. I could play minecraft at that level with even more people connected at the same time on my 12 year old laptop, actually, alot better since I would actually have all of minecrafts features, not just the ones placed in that butchered down version they threw at consoles. But I am sure if i tried playing anything like destiny the thing would probably light on fire. I'm not saying I am against split screen, it would be cool, but too many people are deluding themselves on how likely this is. The only way this would ever be possible is if they had it for PS4 and Xbox 1 only, the previous gen consoles would probably sputter and die if they tried to add this. Well, I suppose they could butcher down the game for the previous gen and fit it in, just get rid of the physics and put a flat unchanging sky in the air or something.
