Same issue here. Kinect chat doesn't work so I have to use a cheap headset.

For PVE, if you want to play with friends in a fire team & chat, leave the party (tell everyone else to do the same), start mission, have your friends join your game (game only, not "game and multiplayer") directly from friends list. Party chat and kinect voice does not work in Destiny. You need a mic. I had an issue last night with 1 person in my fire team who could hear me but I could not hear them. I solved this issue by hitting Start button, going to Roster, at the top is a little white square that says "snap party app", clicked it, it snaps a party, scrolled down to "Destiny Beta multiplayer options", clicked on teammate's name I couldn't hear, in options clicked "unmute". For some reason this was the only way it worked. Hope this helps. And again, you need a mic to chat with fire team members. Also, in Destiny settings, I clicked Headset Only. The Blended option created feedback in my headset that got annoying.

You can do it with 2 ways. Unplug your xbox for 30 seconds. Then plug in an play it should fix it. (Worked for me). Or go into party chat with everyone before starting to play the game. Also works

Same problem here. I was able to chat until I unsnapped. It was working fine earlier in the day (approx noon - 4 central time) then I logged off. When I got back on at approx 8:30 I was having party chat issues. Was there a system update between then that I missedm
