The beta is like a small chunk of the final game, yup so it's correct to analyse and scrutinise as if it were a demo of the final game... However I'd expect the open plains of old Russia to be bland and lifeless in this setting. If it were a single player rpg I'd hope for more life, more distractions and more to do but as it's a "shared world shooter" I think your fire team and other online players are meant to fill that void. Shooting, looting and levelling with other players is the name of the game. For that you just need spawning enemies, public events and side missions to keep you busy. With bounties and glimmer to gain I can explore that same Cosmodrome again and again and always have something to achieve. When the full game is released all those hidden areas and high level areas will be open and it'll bulk it out further. One thing I agree on is the enemy spawns. Their behaviour is predictable and samey. I'd like to see alternating spawns. Eg. First time they land near building A and try to turn it into a den/barracks, they could place a barricade and place a flag... You can attack it, break the destructible barricade, kill every enemy and hold square button to remove flag. Bonus points for doing each. Next time they spawn, they appear in a different area close by and lay attack into another enemy altogether, so we get one of those crossfire battles we can intervene in. Next time they spawn a little bit further away and start patrolling a road with shanks patrolling and dregs guarding a Captain with a couple of those camouflaged snipers scouting the flanks. Means you can't just lob one grenade and wipe then all it in 20secs like usual. Make full use of the enemy AI and give us players more engaging situations to find. And have this cycle on a random loop so they're unpredictable and it mixes up the gameplay. Just an idea of how to make more of what there is currently in place. Rather than expecting wildlife or NPCs running around, because as I said I think we are meant to fill that void. I think as well that the further you develop in the game, exploring free roam will just be a small part. Raids, strikes and the story campaign will be the meat and bones of it. Exploring, public events and that sort of stuff will be seen as a bonus feature. Then the PvP as another game mode entirely. Well get plenty of content anyway in the full release to make the game world feel more alive.

 • Fair enough. However when I said lifeless I wasn't really saying that the environment should have animals running about randomly within a desolate setting (as that would contradict the setting). The comment as I elaborated in my post was pointed at the NPCs and AI which for reasons discussed in my post are lifeless. We do currently agree that the AI and respawn loops as they are now need work. I disagree with your views on NPCs in the environment though, as they do make sense (guardians alone cant support the city themselves. People need tech, food, water etc) and they could easily lend themselves to improve the quality of the side missions by utilizing the players. I would agree with your statement that we were probably meant to fill that void however currently we cannot interact with each other beyond shooting things and dancing. Considering the quality of the AI so far the void is really still there. Also the main missions are pretty standard and have thus far all for reasons in my initial post and the side missions were exceedingly poor too. While I would really like to believe that these things will experience a significant jump in quality when the game is fully released I don't have any solid reasons to believe that.

 • Well I don't disagree. I just don't see them shaking things up now. We'll get what we're given and love it or leave it. I reckon the game will be fun enough. It just won't and can't be perfect and please everyone. Perhaps if it wasn't catering for last-gen consoles we'd see a much more developed and deeper game world. I think Bungie intentionally simplified a lot of the game and in many ways it works well. I'd love to see a bit more attention to detail to bring the world and lore to life like yourself but I'm okay with its current state. Maybe with patches and dlc they'll bulk it out more and more.

 • I personally don't believe changes are going to happen by the launch of the game either (I hope they do, but expect they wont), I wont however support the practice of making the game sub par and forcing the consumers to improve it through the purchase of DLC. I know we cant all be pleased but this is what I and (statistically) a substantial amount of people paid for and if they are simply supporting old consoles to drive up sales (not blaming anyone. Activision), I cant trust them enough to warrant keeping the title when it comes out. I'm not trying to rip into you or anything its just my opinion/observations thus far.
