You guys must be playing a different game than me. Today my friend and I witnessed a war. A massive showing of how powerful the hive and fallen can be. 5 captains and 3 knights plus what seemed like hundreds of grunts fighting for control of this tiny section of the map.

  • No we are playing the same game and are aware of that event. However that boring loop does still happen and the environment is still static around the event. Also that doesn't solve many of the other issues that were highlighted. The event is quantity over quality, spawning so many AI that you cant recognize the problems with them individually. Dont get me wrong it is a strong step in the right direction and a blast to play through, but is that the most we can expect?

  • I just don't understand how you think it's static. There are enemies everywhere and they wouldn't be on every square inch of the map because that would be over kill

  • Well they are static and what I mean by static is not doing anything, inactive so to speak. The environment does not really change and you cannot interact with much in it (only ghosts, chests and spinmetal). It also doesn't really change at all. As for the enemies while they are scattered around the map nicely have you actually watched them? They have no purpose, just standing around or walking around (being static). Also their fighting AI is really poor even on harder difficulties (they really just get a damage/hp boost and that's it) If you disagree could you explain and point to reasons why? it would make it easier to see from your point of view.

  • So by you saying you want the environment to change are you talking about something along the lines of levolution? Like if I throw a grenade here there will be a crater there forever? There is no way that could be possible in a world this size. It's just not possible. There are public events and dynamic weather to change the environment and kinda give it a purpose. The enemies aren't the hardest, I will give you that. But the enemies in all games like this just stand around waiting for the player to come along and kill them. It's just how they are. They aren't going to go home after 5 pm to their wife and kids and let frank, the fallen dreg take the next shift at night. There while purpose is to be cannon fodder. It can be boring to just walk around but I think that's because there isn't much of a sense of discovery in a section of earth that we have seen a lot of this past year. When we get to mars, Venus. Chicago, it will add more depth in the environment that will create the purpose

No levelition is a Phisics based change. He's talking about... Let's say for example. In that huge battle the hive "won" meaning they killed more fallen. The map should adapt to their victory by the hive obtaining more ground. In stead of that little ship they have if they won that entire area could change to the hive setting and instead of the hive fighting the fallen every 2 min it would be a hive zone/territory. And the major battle area would now be closer to the fallen territory. And if the fallen won they would push back the hive and reclaim that area. And maybe even push into the hives territory. Understand? Instead of the same battle every 10 min. The battle would actually matter.

There is no sense of purpose/discovery. I don't care how many maps they add, all you are doing is moving around each map shooting the same standing AI over and over again and if you get lucky, you get a nice prize from one of the vending machines. Only real difference between each map will be a different change of scenery with enemy at higher levels. Explore mode does not tie into story mode in any way that I have seen playing 3 characters so far. And with the story modes being short due to the always online open world setup, I highly suspect everyone will be finished the story way before they are done with the Explore mode for each map location. You'll be exploring and collecting high level gear with no real purpose to use. Basically just grinding for stuff that you have no need for. Or if you take the different approach and spend more time exploring first, if that is possible, then you are gaining experience and weapons likely too high for the story levels on that map location. I think that is why the Explore mode was at level 4 and didn't show up in Old Russia until you got to almost the end of the stories for that map location. If the game is built so that Explore mode opens up toward the end of the story telling for a map location, then I would think I would want to do that mode before moving to the next story area. Unfortunately by the time I have finished exploring the whole map, I think my character level and equipment will be too high for the next set of story missions. I might need to set the story to 'hard ' level to enjoy it. I am very curious as to what all the players will be posting after two weeks with the game.

  • Yeah I have a feeling once the hype dies down the number of players going through the story missions is going to hit absolute lows in terms of player population. The missions in explore mode aren't interesting and the story missions have only been stock standard thus far.

No leveloution is not what I asked for at all. I wanted a more intricate cycle of respawn/environment change than the one's we are seeing now. It would all be scripted. No AI aren't like this in all games (Eg The Last of Us), however you can see how people have problems with their current state. You are correct in saying that they are not the smartest but surely they can be better than this? (with half a billion dollars and video game developer veterans there is little excuse) I do want to believe that is just this level however I have no reason to actually believe that is just the case. I do hope I am wrong though.
