Pulse Rifle vs Auto Rifle

So I played with both types of guns and I have to say the auto rifle is the better choice. I am sure if that's because the Pulse Rifle is weak or just that I suck with it. Does anyone else feel the same?

Pulse rifle (or at least it's my preference) I find it superb in CQC and the one I have (psi tempus III with a reflex sight) has a nice bonus to reload speed so I can keep firing and dump 2 clips into you before you finish one clip of any gun :p But that's just me, I've heard people say it's brutal and whatnot so I say in the right hands it's a monster....it's all in timing the trigger pulls....otherwise you're done for in pvp

The pulse rifle is not bad, but its slow in between bursts, and has more recoil than what is tolerable. I carry an Auto rifle and Scout rifle on my character, and toss the pulse rifle because if I solo against waves of enemies, I go auto, playing in a fireteam I use scout for those head shot kills. I feel like the pulse rifle doesn't do either of those things well. In real life with the M4 rifle, you can fire off bursts as fast as you can pull the trigger, but the recoil is there for sure, so if you are right handed, your shots are going to climb up and to the left. I think if they just allowed you to fire off bursts every time you pull the trigger the weapon would be much better. There is another game in which lag and server issues screw up the bursts fire rifle from firing every time the trigger is pulled, when it is supposed to respond every time. That may be something with this game?

The general consensus (saluts*) seems to be that the pulse rifle should get a buff in damage or a reduce in recoil, as there is no opimum situation for it in pvp. But i like it for pve

  • Auto rifles are still the best gun in the game. You can equip them and are good to go on every map. I find pulse rifles are both useless and hard to use.

I wanna say this is a problem with the controller. I have no problem with burst fire weapons on the Xbox/Bone hell in Titan fall, I love using that single shit white rifle, simply because the triggers are far more responsive, then the flaps on the PS4 controller. Don't get me wrong, still a better love story then the PS3 controller but moving forward. The PS controller just feels like its not allowing me to fire as fast as I could with say an XBOX controller. That said the Auto Aim in this game if -blam!-ing crazy, holy shit.

      • Auto rifles are way stronger and it's annoying. They blow every weapon in multiplayer out of the water at almost any range and it shouldn't happen. It takes no skill to spray where a scout rifle takes skill to hit. I feel like compared to auto rifles nothing compares and I wish they would get toned down for final release.

        • It is Meh in PVE. Terrible in PVP. I don't think there is really anything wrong with the pulse rifle itself. The biggest problem is the pvp map design. All of the maps and effective hot spots on the maps are effectively useless for a pulse rifle. Another issue is time to kill. There is to much delay in the pulse rifle burst and the players in pvp have enough health to get under cover. It's not to say triple burst weapons can't be effective. MW4 and BF3 had probably the most effective time to kill weapons and they were triple burst.

        • I don't say I prefer one over the other, it's more the point I take what I can find. Most of the weapons I have aren't powerful. I can't seem to find a strong hand cannon so I was using a Pulse and then when a powerful Auto dropped I switched over. But even with using Auto I burst fire. No reason to waste ammo when I have more than one opponent to deal with. Pulse pretty much does that job for me. So I look at power, range, and stability. Unfortunately the pulse does carry less ammo so Auto gets an advantage there.

          • I suck with charging weapons (I only use Fusion Rifles sometimes to break elemental shields) so I immediately disassemble Pulse Rifles, regardless of damage.

            • You are not wrong there. I had used my Pulse Rifle, even though I loved it because it offered a quicker cooldown bonus on grenades but when I got my best Auto-Rifle, it was outclassed dramatically. Even the Pulse Rifle had incredible recoil compared to the one I had and the Auto-Rifle had virtually none at all!

              • I also found that the pulse rifle sucked. The Cydonia AR3 was a better close to mid range gun, and there was a scout rifle I had (I forget the name) that was a way better mid to long range gun. all the pulse rifles I found were just terribly mediocre mid range guns that were entirely ineffective at close and long range, making them not nearly versatile enough when compared to the other available options. What was especially annoying to me was that whenever I found a new primary weapon, at least 3 out of 4 times it was a pulse rifle. IDK if i was just unlucky or what was going on but it sucked.

                  • It is simply outclassed by the auto rifle at all ranges. I did level it to max damage just do give it a chance, but there is no distance where I dont do better with an auto rifle. True marksmen might be able to take advantage of it, but I have no use for it.

                    • Yep the pulse rifles feel underpowered compared to the auto and scout. The scout allows for consistent head shots while the auto allows for more hits far faster than the pulse.

                    • all primary weapons except full auto riffle are crap, especailly hand cannons, that doesn't even belong in this category, they should be special weapons with boost to damage.

                    • The auto rifle is definitely better... but it is WAAAY too over powered. You could probably even this gun by just making it less accurate. It doesnt make sense to pop head shots with an automatic from 50 yards away anyway.
