You don't understand. This is a beta (demo). They aren't showing you a lot of content because of that. The story will expound on some of the various NPCs, I'm sure.
And what in the blazes are you talking about? The world is amazing, and filled with an incredible sense of detail. You must not have a background in game development, or you'd know that having the war end in a deciding factor pretty much requires them revamping the entire system for that area. The fact that a FPS has a random war like that occur in itself is an awesome feat. The fact you have an open world to explore is an awesome feat. If you want more interaction, go play Skyrim. But see, then you miss out on the dynamic world that Bungie has worked their asses off to create, that you dare call lifeless.

Edited by Ve7n00m: 7/21/2014 1:03:05 PMThe world may be open but (in the Beta stage) it's not formatted to play that way, everything is segregated, if it truly was an open world you'd have story missions in the same world as side missions and exploring, strikes too. Instead we have story missions that end when done, taking you back into orbit, side missions in an 'explore' mode and strikes separate too. Can't we get them all together so's I can explore for a little then head to a story missions but on my way pick up a side mission? The Beta (to me) doesn't feel at all like an open world

See, this is where I disagree with the current model of main and side missions in RPGs. When you complete a main mission, there SHOULD be a sense of urgency to get back to your superiors to reel them what you've uncovered. But no, off you go skipping away with a jolly gait as you prance about on farming side quests, oblivious to the impending doom that is looming ever closer. I appreciate the fact that you maybe return to the Tower after a particularly driven story quest, at which point once you're done with it, you have the free time to revisit THEN explore a VERY open world. What you're asking for is a Sandbox game.

Yes you are right, the stages seem a little dull now and its only 2 more months till the game is released but hey, within a few short weeks we will see some awesome changes happening within those stages. me and my friends have been playing the beta since it was released going back and forth from earth to the tower to crucible then back again we were getting weary of all the back tracking and tedious play when one day we noticed that at the tower the top door was open ( iron banner ) which was a nice surprise then off to crucible we went to find 2 new mp maps. all I'm saying is we may be playing the same game content as we are now on launch day but just give it some time and I'm pretty sure the developers will be throwing in a lot of surprises and new content each month to keep us all happy just think of what you're saying now because deep down sooner or later you know its going to happen..

No I do understand. This is a beta. However the game is two months from launch and ultimately everything I included in this feedback exists/does not exist within the game currently whether you like it or not. In the weekly update they stated it was a sample of the world of Destiny (even if things are a little broken). You say they are restricting content? does that include the AI? The loot drops? or ways to get loot? even the NPCs? (I mean have they given us or you a serious reason to think they will improve them? with a promise to do so or something similar? Not that I am aware of) why would they restrict all that? I agree that the landscape and maps are beautiful I even stated that at the start of my post, however it is also empty, static and lifeless. While you do state it is full of detail, you don't mention what detail it is filled with? is it just big and pretty? What detail does it have in it for us to interact with besides what I mentioned in my post? Please share. You have also misunderstood what I was asking for. I will reiterate. I actually asked for "a wonderful, interesting and intricate cycle". None of the environmental changes would be permanent or player driven as it would be like the running out and shooting each other loop but with more thought behind it, this would give the AI more purpose than running out for us to shoot and keep the environment interesting for players. Also the fact that the game has a war (no it is not random at all actually it is a extremely simple scripted loop) occurring at all is not an awesome feat. I will just point to Skyrim, Farcry 3 also Defiance and leave it at that. It is open to a certain extent but the world part of it is non-existent for all of the reasons in my post. The fact is that everything I have said is and has been done with a fraction of the resources. If you actually come up with better points (or points at all) than loyalty and passion we could actually have a serious discussion of our views.

That's not the point. The point is, you're tearing away in a most rabid fashion at something you know so little about. I could spend all day, and regale you with the information at our fingertips regarding gameplay and flow. The fact of the matter is, this game is a first person shooter, and not an MMO. I believe that Bungie stated they wanted a multiplayer game that FLOWED like a single player game. So in other words, something with a deep richness (like halo) where you can also play with other players (like borderlands). So far, they have separated BOTH of those into two distinct categories. One: missions. Missions are story driven, and have a campaign like feel. It is dynamic, and events that occur hold more weight than things found in the more multiplayer-based areas. You're supposed to be hit hard by events that occur here, and this is where that depth and lasting impression come into play. Two: free roaming. This is 90% of what you are currently critiquing (aside from the NPCs, which I will address later). This is a dynamic area, though, and listen carefully, NOT AS DYNAMIC AS THE STORY ITSELF. So of course, it's going to feel bland compared to the story missions. Plus, it has a borderlands feel to it, but without all the zany humor. The point here isn't to be dynamic, the point here is to enjoy a social connection with other players in the blink of an eye. Their current system executes this flawlessly. Finally to address your lack of NPC depth. Sure, the weapon vendor and the cryptarch may be completely useless to the story, but many of the NPCs found in the tower are connected to various facets of the story. For instance, the Titan mentor is the mission announcer for the strike, the crucible master is the announcer in PVP, and of course the speaker is directly related to the traveler. So basically, all of the things you are complaining about, if they have any weight, will be expounded upon during actual gameplay after launch day. See ya then!

Edited by 101WaysToBeBronze: 7/21/2014 10:58:57 AMI'm sorry but you have no points (nor have you pointed to any evidence to support yourself). The argument you are using is more like an ideal idea, you are selling and discussing only concepts of what the game is and not what the game actually is currently at all. For example I am pretty sure the story is going to be linear(and is as it stands linear) and not dynamic. You have also failed to answer or address my questions in the response post as I did for you. So while I am genuinely interested in the other side of the argument my point is you don't have an argument.
