A lot of the maps have a lot of verticality to them as well though. Add in all the detailed lighting and other things and I'm really excited for the battles to be had throughout the Crucible. Edit: also, the PvP is supposed to be arena combat style anyway, so big teams and maps aren't absolutely necessary. However, they never have said that bigger teams or maps won't be included in the full game, or even later down the road. So all we can do is wait and see how it plays out. If 6v6 on small to medium size maps turns out to be really fun in Destiny, then why would it even matter? as long as its fun, its fine by me, and, wow, does it sure look fun :)

  • I didn't know a pvp's map size is directly related to the amount of years a developer spent on creating it.

  • I like small maps. Less chasing, more killing.

      • We don't really know what will be in the full game yet. I doubt Bungie would not include big maps they excel at in the future, and if they don't, there are other games to get a fix of big team ;)
November... Halo 2, Halo 3, anyone...
• Based on what I've seen so far, I don't have a problem with it. It seems like most of the maps are built not only with overall size in mind, but lanes, choke points, verticality, and many other aspects as well. First Light was definitely big enough that all weapons felt useable. And even Rusted Lands has its potential to bring together all playstyles because of map design beyond size. Would I like to see a couple bigger maps? Sure. If they have bigger groups than 6v6 I would definitely expect them to have bigger maps as well. Is it going to kill my experience if First Light ends up being the biggest PvP map? Not at all. I do not like everything about this game, but those things haven't killed my overall experience with the game so far. As for No Man's Sky, I am personally left unimpressed by it. I'm not a fan of procedurally generated anything really. I feel like its a lazy design choice to add variety. All it is is a simple rotating algorithm that randomized a set of parameters to create an object. Borderlands did it with their weapons. No Man's Sky is doing in on an admirably larger scale with their planets. However, eventually stuff is going to end up repeating itself, and then I am worried about what No Man's Sky will be able to fall back on. Will it be a great and interesting storyline? Will it be tight and immersive combat? Will it be heavy into tactics and true exploration? We don't know, so until then I'll keep an eye on it but not really have high expectations. Personally I hope its a big success.

        • Well, the max team size is 6v6, so anything bigger would be a little overkill. I was content with the size of First Light.

          • I know destiny isn't halo, but bungie seemed to be a fan of very large maps in their games. Having a shrike for instant mobility increases the potential for these maps. And from what gameplay we've seen there are a lot of choices for vehicles. Example being that huge tank looking thing from the e3 video. If their aren't any at release, their will be. I can just imagine the craziness. Sweet Valhalla memories.

            • Yes! Yes!! Yes!!! I'm glad that they are not putting an emphasis on PvP. Small Arenas mean for good fun, but you should go explore and take an adventure. There are multitude of IPs out in the maket for massive PvP. Complaining about a game that is not completely about PvP is like an old women bitching about the old days. Get over it and move on.

            • I have yet to check and see if what your saying is legit, but assuming it is... I have no problem with that. As an Xbox user I wasn't in the Alpha, but from what I've watched, the gameplay seems fast paced and refined, which is really what matters. No mans sky looks like a great exploration game, but I have yet to be convinced that the combat aspect will be any good. Just because the game has a gargantuan scale, doesn't mean the combat mechanics will be fun. From what I've seen of the game, I'm not sold. (Combat wise)

              • For 6v6 I think the maps are a decent size. I was never a halo fan but i played it and I have to say that Bungie is pretty damn good at the multiplayer thing. Any bigger and I think it would be too much. Maybe if they did a 12v12 with a few larger maps it would be alright. I can't imagine anything more.

                • The moon map was big. Why make anything bigger? You're also not taking into account stacking possibilities and the level of intricacy each map carries.

                • They said the moon base is the biggest in the beta and classified as a large map. It's not the biggest and largest in the full game.
