Difficulty Levels in Destiny?
In Halo the 4 difficulties were Easy, Normal, Heroic, and Legendary. But in Destiny it has been said that there is no loading screen or main menu. And if there is no main menu, how do you change the difficulty? Is there even a difficulty?
If there is no difficulty in Destiny honestly I don't think I would mind very much at all. Without a difficulty level you won't have people making fun of other people like "oh you only play on normal. I play on legendary". People can play on whatever difficulty they want. I just find these kinda of things annoying. And you would be surprised how often I see it. So I do think no difficulty levels would be beneficial for that reason.
However having difficulties has pros too. As I said before people can play on whatever difficulty they want. For me it just depends on my mood really. If I'm pretty tired and just feel like playing a little I'll just play normal but if I'm with friends and want a bit of a challenge we'll do legendary. So it's nice to be able to choose. The other pro about having difficulty levels is the achievements. There's room for even more achievements if there are multiple difficulty levels. And I don't know about you but I love achievements.
So anyways tell me what you guys think. Will there be difficulty levels in Destiny like there was in Halo? If so what do u think they'll be called. I kind of like the sound of Beginner, Guardian, Legend, Traveler.

There are difficulty LVs in the strikes and story missions (there may be ones for raids too). You complete the mission the first time on the default difficulty. If you go back to that same mission you get the option to choose Brave or Legend difficulties. The higher difficulties give you better rewards as opposed to the lower difficulties. The cool thing is that each mission has a LV associated with it just like an MMO (for example the Devil's Lair was a LV 6 strike so you had to be LV 6 to play otherwise you didn't stand a chance). What this means is that you can complete the mission on the default difficulty at the LV requirement the first time but then come back and do it on the higher difficulties when you become a higher LV.

[b]I'm looking at this in an mmo perspective. But, I'm not saying this is an mmo. I feel this is an open-world shooter.[/b] A game with leveling system usually doesn't have a difficulty setting. There's just low level mobs and high level mobs. If you're a low level character trying to take on a higher level mob, you'll have a lot more difficulty trying to kill them or you'll die.

Looking at some alpha content it looks like that the difficulty will increase as you progress in the story (requiring you to upgrade items and abilities), then there is an option to change the difficulty (reducing the effectiveness of said armor). Also, the trophy list released will attest to having multiple difficulties in raids and strikes. What has me confused is how the game will scale if you decide to campaign up with other people, or decide to do it solo. If the number of enemies are the same then it can be overwhelming. I guess we will just have to wait and see what the beta serves up.

1 ReplyLike other always online games (such as MMOs) there is no difficulty option, rather you as a player is left to set the difficulty, think the game is to easy? Go fight mobs higher level then you, to hard? Train yourself again same or low level enemies till you and your character is stronger.
