58% of Americans think America is one of the greatest countries in the world
Across America the Independence Day holiday is a time for grilling, fireworks, and parades. But how much is that an excuse to party - and how much is it a genuine display of patriotism?
It turns out most people in the US would say they are often proud of being Americans, according to data collected by the Pew Research Center.
But this pride often falls along generational lines, and many Americans still wonder if the country's best years are in the past.
I'm not entirely certain why this is surprising or even worth comment; especially considering the US ranks 29th in Math and we have one of the worst ranked healthcare systems in the modern world. No matter your political affiliation or beliefs, I find it hard to believe that anyone finds this current status quo is acceptable.
The more important discussion to have is what, exactly, should be done.
