If you preordered at GameStop (don't quite know about GAME in UK), you should be able to switch all of your money over to the CE if you ask them.

Unfortunately I preordered through PSN. I'm going into their support now to see about a cancellation and refund so I can upgrade.

PSN has officially refused me a cancellation/refund. Looks like I'm saving up $150 on my own

They have to at the very least offer a buy up to digital collectors edition. You are correct that a pure cancelation will be like pulling teeth. However Sony has and will do migrations on prereleased purchases. They did this with TLOU and they will do the same here with Destiny. Give them a call to tactfully express your concern and then give Sony a week to announce the updated policy on Destiny upgrades.

Well I have no doubt they will allow digital upgrade. I was specifically hoping to cancel my order for a refund which I could use towards the ghost edition on amazon. Their terms wouldn't allow it.

It's fine. While it is upsetting, it's mostly just a minor setback. I will get that ghost edition, no matter what!
