Hey guys I didn't get accepted to alpha but am already hyped for the beta and all these videos I have watched lead me to believe this is gonna one of my favorite games ever... But there's one thing I don't like which is the hunters special ability ( I think it's called Golden Gun or something). I already wanted the hunter to be my first guardian in Destiny but the more I watch them the more I lose interest in the hunter, mainly because the warlock gets this awesome super charge ability where he jumps up and blasts the ground with plasma balls and then the hunter just pulls out a 3 shot revolver... Like I said I never played alpha, could any of you share your thoughts on the hunter's super charge. Much appreciated.

atleast you have 3 chances to kill a guy, miss with the fov or nb your super is wasted
-
I played the alpha, and found the Golden Gun to be very underwhelming. Regardless of its actual power, it FELT very lackluster compared to the Nova Bomb and Fist of Havoc.
-
The gunslinger is for single shot take downs and was made to deal with high priority targets. The golden gun can jump too by the way and with the combustion perk you can have explosive rounds when you kill an enemy which will be pretty easy do to the fact that they deal high amounts of damage to a single target.

Do blade dancer class when the full game comes out then.

Edited by blAcKnaRoCk: 7/3/2014 12:16:28 AMThe hunter might seems all that powerful in the videos but if you Ms5000WattsUSA play capture with her Huntress, I believe she thoroughly showcases the Hunter's power in regards to the Golden Gun. Try to find a website for the skill trees. It'll show you how powerful the Hunter can be with the proper leveling in regard to your playstyle.

Edited by Hylebos: 7/3/2014 12:06:40 AMThe problem with the Warlock's Nova Bomb and the Titan's Fist of Havoc Super is that they often require enemies to be group up heavily in order to get bang for you buck. This happens quite a bit in the territories gametype we saw in the Alpha, but in practice they are abillities rely more on the mistakes of your opponents than your own personal abillity. On the other hand, the Golden Gun is something that is useful regardless of how bunched up your opponents are, you can feel very clutch if you fire it up in the right position at the right time and use it to kill three different enemy characters.

the titans ability cannot be used well against flying boss`s and its very hard to hit a devil walker and still have time to evade its ground slam, the hunters super is 3 shots that can be used from a distance and have the equivelent damage of a common rocket launcher whats not to like? i believe i saw a video of the golden gun variant hitting the ground and vaporizing 3 enemie with AOE in a vidoc... long time ago do not quote me :p

I think when you play Hunter you will love it. The golden gun has it's own skill tree and you can actually extend it if you know how to play the class. Played Hunter in the alpha, will play it again in beta and release. You can't make a decision just by watching a video. Play the game, you might actually find out the Titan is better suited for your style of play instead. Will say Hunter is pretty bad ass. I got a rush out of annihilating bosses (the ones they gave you) for big damage with the golden gun. It's not just a regular weapon. :)

Thank you all so much for the feedback! I will be looking around for skill trees and such and watching more videos to get my Destiny fix. As of right now I will still be using the hunter for my first guardian. See you all in the beta!
-
I love the Hunter so it'll be my only class to start off with
-
The only reason I am doubting the hunter is that there is way to much emphasis on the throwing knife. It's the gunslinger class. It should mostly be about the guns, not a knife. That's what blade dancer is for.
-
Hunter was extremely popular during the alpha. I'm a Titan kinda guy myself but the hunter by far looks the coolest and has the best legendary weapons names if I remember correctly
-
Golden gun is fine.
-
the hunters second super is pretty kickass. Arc blade. smite everything with a blade of lightning.
-
I actually enjoyed playing as a hunter. Golden Gun works better on bosses or enemies like fallen captains because it does high damage to one target. Both the titan and warlock's supers did AoE damage. We know they also have arc blade I think it's called that damages more than one enemy, and they could potentially have a third subclass we don't know of yet. Basically it's really tough to tell how it'll play just from the alpha. You should definitely make one of each during the beta
-
Really it depends on how accurate you are, if you can hit what you aim at golden gun is pretty awesome, if not I would try something else. When I played the alpha I couldn't get the hang of it, so I went back to my warlock. His ability is really good but is actually easy to dodge if you see it coming first.

The Hunter has other supers besides the Golden Gun. The Golden Gun also has upgrades in the Hunter's skill tree that makes it more formidable. For example, it eventually can shoot through multiple targets at once, can set enemies on fire, and I believe can cause enemies to explode, which would give it somewhat of an Area of Effect.

If you go on YouTube there is a guy named DattodoesDestiny and he has a video that talks about the Hunter, Warlock, and Titan in the alpha in detail. He goes over each upgrade to each characters' grenade, super, melee, and more. This includes the Golden Gun. It definitely helped me out and I think it would totally help in your plight.
One Golden Gun ability is for explosive shots. I think that is awesome!!
I used Hunter almost exclusively in the alpha, and that golden him is pretty epic...So long as you're a good shot.
-
Believe me when I say the Golden Gun is awesome in competitive multiplayer. It is also really useful in pve.
-
there's not really much to tell this early, it's basically a situational ability. Either used on monsters with the shield or bosses. I never waste it On lesser monsters
