So what I would like to know is, what are y'all's opinion on the best overall class for playing both PvP and PvE, and what the single best class is for PvP and PvE is individually. ( understand that I know you could only reach lvl 8 and only had access to a limited amount of weapons, armor, and skills.)
Is the Hunter really as challenging at the start of the game like I've heard?
They are all kick ass in there own way dude. Its all about personal preference my advice is to try them all during the BETA and make your decision from there. I will be playing all of them come BETA and launch even though i played them all during the Alpha they were all great fun to utilize. The only thing i think is better about the Hunter is the double jump mechanic over the others jetpack style double jump.

Edited by HighKingJT: 6/20/2014 4:43:57 PMI played all 3 characters in pve and pvp and i personally saw all 3 classes destroy when used right. In both pvp and pve the armor and abilities make a difference but it depends on like 85-90% gun skills no matter what class you pick. hunter is not any more challenging in the beginning than the other 2, although things get easier when he unlocks his second grenade.

In my opinion, Titan > Hunter > Warlock. but thats just my take on it. They did a really good job balancing them all. you can tell because everyone has a differing opinion regarding the "best" class. no one can tell you which class is the best because you really do need to actually go try them all and see which one fits you the best. Its all about your preference and your play style.

I was originally Hunter-Warlock-Titan. But after playing I switched the Warlock and the Hunter, as much as a I like the hunter, his abilities seem to be somewhat underpowered. While the other two classes have AOE supers, you still have to aim and kill an enemy with a pistol.
-
Take this from me. Before the Alpha for me it was Hunter-> Titan-> Warlock. I played with the Hunter first, then Titan, then Warlock, And I found myself getting more kills in both PVE and PVP with the Titan. Now its Titan-> Warlock-> Hunter.
Hunter still has best armor
Personally I found the Hunter class the best to play with. 50/50 split on armor and agility as well as powerful specials. This rang true for me in PvP and PvE. Titans are pretty good too though. Warlocks take damage very fast but can dish out some pain with their special abilities.
-
Hunters need good mechanics and aiming skills, but Titan needs you to be quick and good positioning is key. Warlocks are -blam!-ing easy to play.
-
Depends on your style of play. I personally prefer Titan. In PvP if a player gets close to you. You win. Hunter is much more mobile. And warlock is magic.
-
I did best with the titan, but that may be due to the fact I wanted to be a titan more than any other class. I think for beta I'm going to roll as a hunter because I really want to throw that knife around
-
I liked the warlock best. Being able to glide to get a good view of the surroundings and dropping down grenades and nova bombs from above was tons of fun.
-
In Strikes, I had the best luck with my Titan. In Patrols, all three were about equal. However, when I was running solo, with no fireteam, I would go Titan. In Crucible, Hunter and Warlock are the way to go. Most players know better that to get in close proximity of a Titan.

3 RepliesVery I formative thread. I learned a lot.

1 ReplyIt is different for everyone. I prefer the sniper/stealth stereotype that goes along with the hunter as well as its abilities. I played all three classes to the cap (granted only 8 levels but enough to get a taste) and I preferred the hunter. I found it to be the easiest class for me to play. The throwing knife was amazing as it became second nature to be fighting and getting low in my mag and right before reloading turn to one of the strongest enemies and *thwipthwipthwip-ka-CHUNK* launch a knife into its FACE then finish off my magazine and reload. For PVP I only used the hunter and I only went to the crucible once but I had a positive K/D ratio and held my own well. There were a couple of times I thwipped a knife into someone's face when they thought they had the drop on me. Main thing to remember is it's not a race. Take your time, find what you like, then choose based on your own experience. In the meantime nothing wrong with enjoying others' stories about their preferred classes.

1 ReplyEdited by Ardenstone: 6/20/2014 8:38:36 PMI see many people have answered this question, however, I may as well chime in. I played all classes and I felt that the warlock suited me the best. I felt that the glide offered by the warlock was far more beneficial than the hunters double jump. While playing the hunter I was having trouble reaching locations that the warlock could reach in one attempt. Now, the Titan has almost the same secondary jump skill as the warlock, so they too had no problem reaching high locations. How I narrowed it down is based on my play style. While playing games that offer things such as these "supers" in Destiny, I always play ranged classes. Thus, the warlock fits me perfectly. Now, if you ever played a game like WOW or borderlands, or anything of that nature that allows you use a special ability to attack, then you may have already chosen a play style. Of course, the Hunter is also ranged, but their super is basic fps gameplay. The Titan, however, is all melee pretty much. If you enjoy butting heads with the enemies and being all up in their personal space, then by all means, run a Titan. Finally, the one thing that I feel the Hunter offers that could very well take the cake over the Warlock is the Knife. I love the sound of the knife melee and of course the ability to throw a knife. There is almost nothing else like getting a solid knife throw kill in Destiny. Its just plain satisfying. Again though, all classes have their respective advantages and I'm sure, once you play them all, you will have no trouble finding the one that suits you best.

I don't think there is a best class. Bungie did a great job of balancing out the game, and I never saw a trend with wins from a certain class.
-
They were all fun and are all very balanced. Personally my faves were hunter and Titan, but that's just based off the one focus we had
nothing against warlocks, just didn't play that one as much. Also capes > armbands
-
Whatever suits your play style. They're all balanced nicely and it's just a matter of how you play. I liked hunter because I was constantly on the move so his agility worked well with me and his super did too.
-
really comes down to your play style preference ( but we have only had access to the first tier of foci so far)
-
Which ever suits you/your-playstyle best. No class struck me as being better than another, just different - which is a real testament to how much work Bungie have put it.
-
I only played as hunter, yet I never felt like I was op or that any of the other classes killing me were op.
-
2 Repliesi played them all but liked the warlock its prefrence man
-
Whatever suits you. I played them all and found I liked the hunter and warlock. But Hunter is overall my choice.
-
5 RepliesWhatever one you play the best with.
-
Titan or hunter
-
I'd say Titan suits me the best.
-
I liked hunter and warlock didn't really enjoy Titan tho. And hunter isn't hard at all.
