About loot and ammo dropping and color blindness
Hi all,
First of all, I've tried to find a way to contact Bungie directly to give them feedback on this, but I wasn't able to find a proper channel. So please help raisiing this topic as best as you can so they can see, as I consider this quite an issue with an easy solution.
Problem is, I'm colorblind. And believe me, most games pay attention to us, designing different stuff minding patterns and not only colors. Destiny is a great game and I'm in love with what I've seen in the Alpha so far, but sometimes I just miss the loot / ammo drops because of my condition.
The smooth pallete that these drops are colored with just pass me by in the heavily detailed landscapes that this game has. The little glow they add is not enough for me to actually notice all of them. Since I'm not the most colorblind guy I know, I must not be the only one facing this.
A solution for this would be simple: an option to add a little mark to these drops, just as it is with the mission objectives, OR change the color/glow of these items so they can be better viewed.

1 ReplyI'm NOT colorblind and still have a hard time seeing loot/ammo drops. They made them so GD small and you can't see them till you are quite close. Half the time they are hidden in the grass or under the bodies. I find more loot and ammo exploring the map and coming across drops from dead guys we killed 5 minutes earlier than I do running over the bodies I just killed 5 seconds ago. Colorblind people must have it twice as hard. The size and color of the loot and ammo must really take out all the fun of the game for some.

Try going to the link above. It's got forums for alpha feedback so your voice may be heard if you post there. If it won't let you just comment to this reply and I'll do it instead. I never considered this while playing and I apologize for the problems your condition causes you when gaming. Bungie must consider this.

I'm not color blind, but an option in settings to toggle on and of colorblindness to change the loot colors or add such indicators would help right? Or when they do the shader test ask "Colorblind?"

5 RepliesBeen preaching this in every post. I'm colorblind with red/green. Try pvp, I end up shooting at my friends sometimes because they are green and the enemy red. Every mp game has colorblind assist anymore, hopefully bungie didn't over look this.

Nice post, I feel like it is something real to actually talk to bungie about. Sure I want proximity chat, but I don't have a disability that affects my game experience. I feel that the fix would be easy, perhaps when armor/gun loot drops they could add a swirling or sparkling light around it depending on rarity, and for ammo they could give a slightly different shape to each type of ammo, regular ammo stays the same, but maybe make special ammo a bit thinner and longer and heavy ammo shorter and fatter. I think those minor changes might help this guy out a lot and everyone who has a visual issue!

I was playing with a friend last night that has a hard time distinguishing between blue/green and they appear almost white to him. I tried telling him where I was on his radar to follow me, since I have had more time with playing destiny. I would completely agree with you. A small tweak to the symbols would be a huge help to gamers with the same difficulties.

I think they should add a setting to allow people who are colour blind to change the colours so they can see them

Yeah, I'm literally as colorblind as a person can be, and I have had zero issues finding loot. Is the brightness low on your game/tv, or do you have weird video settings? They all stand out just fine to me.

I have the exact same issue, i had to wait just over a year for borderlands to address this i am hoping for the same thing or maybe allowing for us to select a different colour scale.

I hope Bungie will do something about this. Sounds like making relatively minor tweaks would make all the difference in the world for significantly many gamers.
