6 RepliesEdited by Atticus: 6/17/2014 10:17:12 AMDark Souls. Skyrim wins this poll because it reaches wider audience. The more casual gamers like this game because it's easy to get into and achievements are presented around each corner. Dark Souls is hard to get into for many people - maybe because it's too difficult, maybe they see no aspiration or they don't like the controls. This game does not try to cater to these people. It was never Miyazakis goal to reach this audience. This game is a piece of art that can not be appreciated by everyone and this is the charm of it. It is the best game I have played until now.

1 ReplyI prefer Skyrim. Dark Souls is fun until you die. Because when you die, you REALLY feel defeated. I don't think you can compare the two. After playing Dark Souls I modded Skyrim so that the combat is almost as brutal. The challenge of Dark Souls is what makes it fun, and the branching storyline and vast open world of Skyrim is what makes it fun.

Team Dark Souls. Don't get me wrong, I love Skyrim, but I've had more fun with DS. To be frank it is hard but it is extremely enjoyable and replayable. #Praise The Sun!!!

9 RepliesEdited by HurtfulTurkey: 6/16/2014 11:08:10 AMSkyrim has a much deeper and richer world. The lore is astounding and unparalleled by any non-MMO game out there. I feel like the two games are polar opposites: Dark Souls deliberately hides the lore, has a pretty shallow plot, never explains the motivation for any of the characters, has rigid and deliberate combat that doesn't allow for much deviation in strategy, and makes it clear that regardless of what you do in the story, the true outcome is inevitable. They're both stellar at what they set out to do, though if I had to choose I'd pick Skyrim. I'm not really a huge fan of the Dark Souls difficulty circlejerk. Once you master the combat, it's a pretty easy game, and you'll find yourself breezing through areas soon after you conquer it. Remember the pain of Anor Londo or the Tomb of Giants? Yeah, well I'm sure you also remember how easily you can just stroll through those areas right after you get through. I do think Dark Souls has the best level design of any game I've ever played though.

14 RepliesEdited by Ossku: 6/16/2014 4:43:14 PMDark Souls (2) Everything in it is better, everything. Ugh, it saddens me how Skyrim has more votes. I get it if you like games with more open worlds but thats the only thing Skyrim has going for. Mechanics and lore wise its bad and generic. Them low standards.

5 RepliesSkyrim got copied by Dark Souls, and Dark Souls got copied by everything else.

Skyrim has a lot of breadth, but very little depth. There's plenty to do but I always get bored of it quickly since so much of it is repetitive. Dark Souls doesn't have as much breadth, but it has more depth than nearly any other game I know. This includes the combat, which leads to me constantly trying new weapons and playstyles. It also extends to the lore. There are many aspects of the lore that people still aren't sure about and never will be. This is because of the game's design allowing for multiple interpretations of events, instead of spoonfeeding the player the world's history.

Bloodborne trumps them both

Dark souls hands down

Dark Souls 2 >>>>>>>> Skyrim

1 ReplyDestiny. The customization is way better. The gameplay is super cool. All three classes play smooth and feel different.

7 RepliesIt seems like many of the people who vote DS have beaten both games, but many of the people who vote Skyrim have only beaten Skyrim.

Other because I can't choose.

Their only comparable aspect is they're fantasy RPG's. I love both of these games for completely different reasons.

I'll tell you the thing I love about this thread, everyone is speaking so highly of both of these games because they are indeed great games!
