i made a group of friends online in halo2 in 2004. we became really tight, we are from ga, tx, co, and fl. we still play games like halo 3 together on a regular basis and we buy all the same games so we can continue to hang together. but halo2 started it all, its pretty crazy, to think back and see how everyone of our lives have progressed. over the last 3years. thank you bungie :) i see all of those guys like my brothers.

Sorry, my reply is a little long winded which starts off with one long baddish experience into two cool gaming experiences. My story is somewhat old school, back in the days of Halo: CE. My friends and I would grab 4 projectors from work and network our boxes in one of the conference rooms for 8+ straight hours of gaming. 16 people huddled around a table of Xboxs and Projectors having a good time. Some of the best games were the hour long Blood Gultch CTF matches. We played Halo: CE for 2.5 years straight, every week on Friday or Saturday night. Until one fateful night, when we invited the MC Team to play with us some halo at my work. Now back in the day, the MC Team was like some top 5 nationally ranked team and one of our regular players was an acquaintance of one of them. So we invited them over one night to play with us to see how we stacked up with them. Let’s just say our stile of play did not meld well with theirs and I almost got fired over this. Let me set the scene of what went down. [b]Location:[/b] Government Building. Escort needed at all times. [b]Our Group:[/b] 8 individuals (6 guys, 2 girls) [b]MC Team:[/b] 15 individual players + girly hot girlfriends who could not and would not play and whined most of the time. [b]MIX AND SHAKE.[/b] First off, I had no clue that the MC Team had a roster of 30+ individuals (mostly collage aged males). I thought they were a couple of friends (4-8) who were just awesome, not a rowdy bunch of college guys. This led to my number one downfall of the night... TOO Many people in the building after hours with just one escort… ME. Lets just say the security guard was not to happy and I got an ear full from my manager the next working day. With all the rowdiness going on the only thing missing was the kegger for our frat party. Second, there is a reason they are in the top 5 teams in the nation. They are very good. We could not compete with them. This led to my number two downfall of the night… SPLITTING the teams up to try and even things out. We split up so that half of the players were MC Team and the other half our players. That went down horrible too. MC Team was team killing our players to get weapons that our players had and that they wanted. They also had issues playing with the girls of our group. They seemed to be offended that they had to play with a girl on their team. They new we were not as good as them and they considered us like 2nd hand citizens. The night got old really fast and it was probably one of the shorter nights we played, I think we even left before the security guard left that night. Third, the MC Team wanted to start a mini tournament that night for money and wanted us to pitch in as well. By this time, I had enough of the shenanigans and told them we had to clear out of the building soon and would not have enough time for the tournament. They got a little POed from this, but shoot; we were providing the place, all the equipment, and all the fun. They provided all the headaches, no equipment, and sucked all the fun out of the night. Before you get all hurt that you were on the MC Team or you want to defend them, I just want to say this: We only played with less then half of the whole group. I am going to assume that we played with the worst of the group and not the nice players. Also, the setting was not a good setting to have such an activity and there was some bad planning on my part. After that weekend, we moved the gaming to my apartment which turned out good, because the neighboring balcony apartment was a couple friends of my wife from her high school band days. Yes, my wife was in band. Yes, I tease her about “This one time, at band camp…” Anyway, we would throw a network cable over to their apartment were they would have two Xboxs going and I would have two Xboxes going for some 16 player Halo: CE. We would also theme our Xboxs and Teams. We would name the Xbox to whatever we wanted. For example, if we were doing a G.I. Joe theme, I would name the Xbox, GIJOE HQ and then our characters names would be, Duck, Bazooka, Mutt, Sgt Slaughter, Spirit, Scarlet, Lady J, what have you. Then another box would be: COBRA HQ and their names would be: Commander, Storm Shadow, Baroness, Serpentor, Destro, Zartan, Tomax, Xamot, and so on… We even had Smurf Night… Papa Smurf, Baby Smurf, Smurfet, Handy Smurf. You get the picture. Once Halo 2 came out everyone went online (finally) and we never really got together to play in the same room. The online fetcher of Halo 2 was very nice and needed, but it sure killed our Friday/Saturday night gaming marathons and the fun that went with it… which you really can’t get from playing online. Sure you can hear the voice of the other players, but it’s the hand jesters and the facial expressions that are priceless.

Well, I put the fact that I am in PraetoriaGuard and what we have done in the gaming community in a college application and was accepted. They also gave me a huge scholarship! lol

Nothing truly amazing, I did meet a LOT of my best friends on Live Halo 2/3. One of which, I'm going to live with when we both get out of college.

Stemming from halo2mnky's comment, I learned that lots of people like to teabag, but then are repulsed by the idea that they might be homo-blam!-. In all seriousness, Halo has been a good way to find common ground with people you never would've thought you would talk to. I don't mean just on Live, but in normal life as well. I've met some great people from my college just because we play Halo.

I have been playing halo since the CE days. i have had 2 serious relationships during this time, and let me say Halo is the cause, and solution, to many many many arguments and fights. it is also the cause and solution to work related procrastination and stress. it was also the cause and solution to undergraduate, and now graduate school procrastination-stress. but in the matter of 'causality' Halo was around before these new girls, work, and school. so what exactly is responsible for the stress and problems? you decide.

I love Halo !!! No true life story other than, At college I claim to be an average player, i say, "I am pretty average at Halo" they then reply immidiately with " You are teh suck lol" which at that point I become startled and then challenge said individual(s). Lets just say 25-0 is a satisfying score. The poor guy didn't know what hit him. With 17 sticks (in the bag) he felt like a right nonce aswell. I suppose I talk to people, I merely correct peoples grammar and improve elocution, because I dislike people who mispronounce Aluminium or people who misspell armour and other words which make up English, they then inform me that "In America we speak American", I then reply "touchez". Quite boring... Shame nobody reads this eh ?

I work for a company where the owner ragged on me all of the time about my gaming, especially Halo. I'm former military and he asked me one day in 2006 what he could do to encourage teamwork at the job. So I told him Halo 2 would be perfect. He was hesitant, but he bought a used Xbox and a used copy of Halo 2. And we set it up on an old TV with selector knobs (click,click). He was so impressed and hooked, that he went out and bought two more Xbox's and three new BIG Tv's. We set up three offices with a network and connected all of the Xbox's. We played everyday at lunch and after work. Having gaming night once a week where we play six hours, and he buys food for everyone. In November of '06 when he gave everyone their yearly bonus, he bought everyone an Xbox 360 premium. We would play Halo 2 from work at lunch on original Xbox, and then it in the evenings from our homes on the 360. After Halo 3 was released I talked to him and convinced him that it was time to upgrade. So he replaced all of the original Xbox's at the shop with Xbox 360's. And he bought copies of Halo 3 for all units, plus extra controllers, plus Xbox Live accounts. There's five of us, all in our late 30's and early 40's. I'm President of Piercingtigervilleburgtown. Things are going well. Seriously, I met a guy (floydman) who lives in Phoenix, AZ like me, through a guy that lives in Florida. I just went to his daughter's birthday party and she is coming to my daughter's birthday party. I think they are becoming better friends than we are. So in short, my daughter has met a friend through Halo 3.

My kids almost never convinced me to let them get an Xbox live subscription to play Halo 2. When they finally did, I got hooked on the game and within the first couple of weeks my oldest son (gamertag minedpardread) met a young man (gamertag now ninja sraggs) and they began playing Halo 2 together. They eventually exchanged cell phone numbers and became long distance friends (we live in Oklahoma and he lives in Texas). As the summer of 2007 approached they began to talk about getting together and to make a long story short I was introduced to ninja scraggs parents and he came and spent over 7 weeks with us in the summer. We (our family) continue to remain in close contact and have a friendship that will last a lifetime. All thanks to the Halo community.

I met my ex shortly before the release of Halo 2. She was very excited, and made me play the Halo CE campaign all the way through in one session. We played split-screen for nearly 8 hours and my enjoyment of the Halo universe was seeded. Halo 2 came out and I didn't even have an Xbox. I was constantly on my ex's account playing training and explaining to my ex's friends that they didn't want to play with a nubb like me. This caused many arguments because she constantly got on my back about playing on her account. She also firmly denied any time I requested that we play split-screen on Live. She eventually ended up getting me my own box and copy of Halo 2 so that I would stay off of hers. Long story short, it all came down to one game on a warm May afternoon. I was playing at my place, she at hers. It was Team Hardcore, oddball on Midship. I wasn't playing great, but I'm always sneaky with the oddball. We were obviously out-matched and losing bad. The only thing keeping us in the game was my sneaky ways. I was hiding in one spot that was hard to get to for quite some time. After a while, the spot became extremely obvious and the other team caught on. The next time I got the ball, I got even sneakier. I hid in a room on the opposite side of the wall from where I was hiding. Obviously this worked, not just on the other team but also on my ex. She began a violent rant about how stupid I am/was being. She told me to stop hiding in the same spot. She screamed that it was obvious. She freaked out on me blurting out every problem she had ever had with me regarding Halo. I lashed back. I screamed back. I defended myself - "Not only am I in a different spot, I also have the most kills, ball time, and (insert expletives) you!" She quit the game... minutes later she sent me a text message dumping me.[b] "I'm done"[/b] All because of a misunderstanding during a game of Team Hardcore - Oddball on Midship. I got dumped because of Halo EDIT: Also need to mention that we had been together for over 2 years when this happened. i found out when i'm bored as hell at my day job i can has Halo 3 online in some form even if it is only watching rediculous clips, prepping variant downloads, or ridiculing crazy mofo's who make better map and game variants than myself cause i thought my Hot Potato map was the tits (ahem-it's in my fileshare). I also found some yuppie blow hard at work trys to play halo; now their not so much of a hooker-fart cause i sticky their face daily............in HALO. I did however have an apostrphy while reading stories in this forum--While you (bungie) were looking to find true love or personal growth stories, i susequently became self-aware (like Johhny 5 in short circut) that Bungie should collectively run for the entire executive Branch of the Government because all international disputes could be solved by fragging digital representations of thine enemies. I learned that if you try [i]looking[/i] for that kind of person in a [u]videogame[/u], you end up disappointed. However, I did learn that when stuck in a closed space and zombies with swords are attacking, the friend who you thought was going to help you ward off the zombie threat will actually take his shotgun and put it inside your pharynx and evenly distribute your body across a wall behind you, just to have your ammo. Then that person will subsequently teabag you until your body eventually decomposes. Then when you come back to life, because [i]someone[/i] thinks "It's just not your time." You'll end up being the "Last Man Standing" and be swarmed by zombies and killed, yet again, by your jerk friend and teabagged by every one of the 15 zombies. In alphabetical order, no less.
