Am i able to openly kill other players while roaming (not in a city) the world of Destiny? I'm not sure if this topic has been touched upon yet or if the PVP aspect of this game is more matchmaking based. Are certain planets more free for all and others are not?

No, there is no open world PvP (they've stated only willing participants) and I don't think it really fits the lore anyway. We are the last of our respective races, the competitive PvP apparently has it's own story but running around simply killing each other doesn't make sense for races clinging to life by a thread

I wouldn't like the idea personally. I leave people alone so being chased and bothered by a moron who doesn't know how to shoot becomes a hassle. Then when you kill him 40+ times he gets mad and reports you. Id rather keep pvp and pve seperate, or just have matchmaking lobbies for pve free for all.

No, PvP is only for the online matchmaking. We are fighting the Darkness, what is the point of ganking guardians in the wild when we need to band together? Unless of course you are so pathetic that you need to kill lower lvl Guardians to stoke your epeen.

If you're asking whether or not you'll be able to kill random, unwilling people for shits and giggles, then no. But PvP has been confirmed, so you'll find other Guardians who are as willing to kill you as you are to kill them.

Just look at World Of Warcraft, the most popular (still after 10 years) and profitable game in history, which allows open world 'ganking' and killing of the other faction if you're in a contested zone. I think it would be great to have this is destiny at some point once the aliens are nearly defeated, the humans and exos and awoken will all contest for land I'm sure. Would be a great way to add excitement into the game in later expansions. For now though we need to push back these pesky Fallen and Hive etc :) Don't give up hope yet, your ganking wishes may be fulfilled in years to come. I know I'm hoping for it purely because of great memories in World Of Warcraft having huge ~80 vs ~150 battles in the big bad world :) I'm sure there are others who think the same :) if not then they must be Single Player/Co-op minded gamers who have never experienced the thrill of an MMO open world unexpected PVP battle.

1 ReplyThis would be a totally horrible idea....jump into a game run into a public event and just before ur about to kill everything ur fire team is wiped out by another fire team who just wanted to be douche bags and then leaves the area without reviving anyone and collects all the loot.....yeah....that sounds like a wonderful idea. O_o

I would say that you are able to, but the chief of guardians position has been given to me already though. That being said, I have GM powers,1 shot kills and the exclusive ability called obliterate. (It's a modified version of nova bomb where holding down the super buttons rapidly fires nova bombs until release. I'll also have the exotic "against all odds" complete gear set. Pretty much nullifying everything. I'll be detaining all Pkers, hunting them down, and post kill reels for guardians to watch at the tower. So....I mean...you can try...but my warlock also has omni teleport as a movement ability. I can port to mars from earth and give you the purple hand of doom for attacking a fellow guardian. [spoiler]just poking some fun bro. There's no PvP system out in the open. Only a competitive multiplayer mode that takes place in a secluded area strictly for guardian matches[/spoiler]

I imagine you will not be able to kill other players (guardians) because technically your all on the same team. Fighting for the same reason. (Except pvp of course)

The only places you'll be able to kill other players is in designated PvP arenas. You will not be able to kill them out in the wild.

No, that would lead to noob killing, rage quitting, and bad sales of the game. Most players wanna just walk around Old Russia, Venus, Mars, or the Moon with help from friends, not having to constantly watch there backs while with other players
