I would like to know: Do I need a constant internet connection to play?
And can I play the game as if it's a single player experience?

14 RepliesI have to agree with External here. With everything that Destiny promises to be, Bungie would be backhanding their own game if they were to preclude offline gameplay modes. I GET that they want to be an MMO. I GET that Destiny is the spiritual successor to a series of games famed for their ONLINE MULTIPLAYER. I myself still regularly play Halo: Reach to this day, but I'm comforted to know that when support for Xbox 360 goes down, I'll still have a game I can play, even with my friends. And that's the ONLY reason why Halo 2 still sits on my shelf. Because it's still great fun to play offline. Bungie, if you have to gut ANY features to make it playable offline, DO IT. PLEASE. I've asked the same of Respawn's Titanfall who have also refused to show even the slightest hint of thought towards the lifespan and literal accessibility of their game (they're Xbox One Exclusive for example), but you guys, your newest venture is cross-platform, and the Halo series, albeit experimental in many regards, has reflected a CONSISTENT acknowledgment of accessibility and replayability through offline single-player, local split-screen, and system link options in addition to the online component, not to mention the eventual addition of replay and content creation modes. Respawn is a fresh company born from Call of Duty, I have yet to form expectations of them. But Bungie made Halo, so I'd assume you'd give us the same options as always. ...But Activision happened... and now look at Blizzard. Diablo III, Starcraft II, and World of Warcraft... UNPLAYABLE. Taking consoles into the MMO genre is an excellent and natural progression provided today's hardware, and I would love to see it go places. I just sincerely hope that the other companies making the games I've enjoyed up to this point, don't get sucked into the "cloud hype" and refuse to dignify the cretins that carry the increasingly asinine flag that "online is the way games should be played" when the complete and utter vast majority of RPGs that games like Destiny take a hint from were never ever meant to be played online. ...Frankly, now that I think about it: If I had to choose between a Destiny that was console exclusive, or a Destiny with no offline options, I would always choose the console exclusive. I wonder if we'll see a fallout with Activision as we did with Microsoft Studios.
