Isn't it annoying when people say destiny is going to be just like Halo?
Listen, I love Halo. Master Chief is probably my favorite video game character. I love Halo's story. But it really annoys me when people compare Destiny to Halo. Yes, Destiny is a futuristic FPS, but destiny is an open world online game. My friends still say it'll be just like halo, but personally I think it will be a futuristic open world, MMO type game. I have faith Destiny will be a new, original, fun experience, with nostalgia as well. Destiny will be a new and innovative game but with a somewhat familiar feel. Tell me in the comments if you've had similar experiences with friends saying Destiny is like Halo, or if you disagree with me. Thanks Guardians!

halo is no doubt an awesome game and series and yea its sorta like it but its also cod,borderlands,halo,mass effect,and a lot more. But you cant say yea its gonna be another halo game it doesn't make since. Destiny is going to be a completely different game its gonna have similar characteristics yea, but the same no its gonna be an awesome game itself

4 RepliesI think we can all agree that it won't be Halo, but obviously we spend time looking into the game and gobbling up every bit of info, and many people don't. So how would you describe it to the uninitiated? put it in terms of games they know so the description becomes Halo meets borderlands... Since there is no frame of reference for a comparable game in genre, that's what we're stuck with (no FPS MMO has been able to pull it off and succeed yet) But what we can hope for is that the game captures lightning in a bottle just like Halo's gameplay did

I think every one just is attempting to pretty much draw comparisons to something that is almost completely different. It's just like what happened when Bungie went from Myth, Marathon, Oni, and so many other games to Halo. No one thought they would make a good game when they switched gears. Once the beta is shown, maybe we won't have to hear all the BS once they figure out that this is different. I'm excited for it nonetheless, and I hope Bungie delivers.

I think it's going to feel uniquely Bungie. They have their own flavor and it will be evident.

It appears to me that Bungie has sort of merged the story based gaming with the online multiplayer gaming. That worries me. I have never completed any campaign except for one of the Marathon games. Probably the first one. They really hold no interest for me so I hope Destiny will have something like matchmaking and multiplayer playlists that I can jump into immediately without completing some silly story BS first. Otherwise I'm going to be very, very lost.[spoiler]I am the worst player in the history of Halo. [/spoiler]

I know. Halo is my favorite game but it's almost nothing like destiny. Halo isn't a massive open world/sandbox, you don't go to at least 4 different planets. Destiny has way more guns by a long shot.

I believe several people have been quoted saying that the game will be like "coming home" for Halo players. So there's that.

So is that even a bad thing? Halo is an Xbox exclusive and still sold a shit ton of copies. Sure they have their similarities but they are completely different games. The only things the two games really have in common is the fact that they're both in the future, involves space travel and they were both made by Bungie (Yes, I'm well aware that 343 took over the Halo franchise now)

I am sure even playing the game in the controls will feel a lot like halo. Their isn't anything wrong with that, it's what Bungie excels at

Yea, it's not out yet and people already dismiss it as: Borderlands clone, "It's Just like Halo", and looks boring from a two min video. Oh well their loss.

I saw someone streaming the Alpha of Destiny not too long ago on PSN, and it looks pretty cool. It is quite different, although the grenade animation looks the same to me. The graphics look amazing. He was soloing, and let me tell you, he was barely knocking down the enemy's health. I'm sure he wasn't even allowed to stream it, but he did anyway. If you ask me, Destiny is definitely something to look forward to.
