So you mean to say if you don't have it delivered, rather than where you preorder, yes? In which case...
If you don't pick up the game yourself, you're doing it wrong. Day one access, with the slight change that you don't have to wait all day for the truck to deliver it, no need to use any package tracking since you already have the package, mint condition (but seriously... that's on your list? Freaking 'lol'), and can literally choose any pre-order you want (since they all have stores).

Kinda. The mail comes at noon, and all the stores that sell videogames are in Carson City, which is 20 minutes away on wheels. Mailbox is twenty minutes away on foot, and my phone is generally in my pocket. Laziness is the essence of convenience.

When I bought Halo 4, it was already slightly opened. I picked that up from the store. That's why I put "mint-condition" on there. And no, the packages always arrive day one at about 1 PM. I'm pretty sure people are home by then.
And I used to get Netflix packages that were clearly opened and watched by the people in the Postal Office, when when delivery movies was the thing. New games from stores are the exact same as new games that are delivered. :/
And no, the packages always arrive day one at about 1 PM. I'm pretty sure people are home by then.
'Always?' For everybody? Not me. At any rate, stores open in the morning. So huzzah for getting your game 3-5 hours earlier!

This is really only beneficial if you don't have anything going on during the day. Personally, I don't take off work for game releases (although, Destiny will be a different story). The UPS and Fedex trucks stop by my place around lunch time, so I'll just pick them up from the apartment office when I get home from work.
