Hey Flud, I've got a ton of movies that I want to store on a portable hard drive, and I was hoping for some recommendations for programs to use, as well as recommendations for adding metadata back onto the file.

When you rip a dvd, does the original video or whatever stay on the disc? I want to copy some movies I own to my laptop for trips and such, but I dont want to lose thw ability to watch them on disc. Also is it legal to do what im talking about?
