The Know - Destiny Info Week

Recently, Rooster Teeth was invited to have a hands-on look at Destiny. All this week, their news channel, The Know, will be releasing information on different aspects of the game, as well as sharing their experiences and impression on the game. Monday - Characters and Classes
~ As previously stated, three classes and three races available at launch. ~ Bungie senior designer Tyson Green says that they are taking an emotional approach to races, rather than stat-based. ~ At launch there will be three character slots. ~ Each class has a set of abilities, as well as two Focuses to choose from that feature a specific Super. Supers can be used offensively or defensively. ~ Supers are available by filling a meter by killing enemies and helping teammates. ~ Committing to a build you like will give subtle bonuses. Tyson Green states that players have the option to lock a build, which gives your character a global stat improvement. ~ You can pursue specific weapons, doing certain missions to obtain it. Or gather materials to upgrade the weapons you already have. Additionally, players can participate in certain events in a meta-story outside the campaign, and reap the rewards exclusive to those events. ~ Your characters' stats and gear will persist throughout all game modes. Tyson Green states that a balanced game isn't just equal, where everything is the same. A balanced game is one where everyone is not doing the exact same thing. ~ Game data will persist through both last-gen and current-gen systems. However, Xbox to Playstation transfer and vice-versa will not be possible
Tuesday - Gameplay and Modes
~ Bungie head of community Eric Osborne explains a few game modes. ~ Game modes include: -Patrols (casual, exploration) -Strikes ("intense arcade action") -Competitive Multiplyayer -High-level Raids -Public Events -Story Missions that tie the world together ~ It is noted that there are areas that branch off from the main path of the Strike, but these were blocked off for the demo. "Strikes may be less linear than what we've seen." ~ Gavin shares his experience with a public event in the middle of a mission. ~ Eric Osborne explains the vision for competitive multiplayer. ~ Missions can be replayed to harvest materials, level up your character, or try to get different loot. ~ Death does not carry heavy penalty. Bungie wants players to experiment and find new ways to play. Tyson Green states that they do not want to punish players for playing an encounter differently or experimenting. You will lose time and progress when you die, but but you won't have to worry about losing Glimmer or gear.
Wednesday - Social Aspects and Solo Play ~ Coming soon!
