Is halo+borderlands a bad thing?
I realize that with every new video we can expect disappointment from people who had very high expectations and hype. I get that.
What I don't get are when people say this game is just borderlands without humor or it is basically halo. Or halo+borderlands.
And when they say it as if it is a negative.
When far cry 3 came out it's most popular praise was that it was like skyrim with guns, and that game was awesome.
I dunno about you but halo+borderlands sounds amazing and even though destiny isn't the child of innovation and ambition that halo was, it still looks and sounds amazing.
So what do you guy think?

3 RepliesI think we're at a time in the industry that alot of new games are like games we already played. But to say its this game + that game is unfair. We're a tough audience. These developers are doing their best to make a great game for us. We have to like it we pay their bills in a way. I mean Watch_Dogs isn't a new genre, but they added some innovative gameplay. But Bungie gives us a great game to play together for the next ten years. I think it's amazing. And I don't even have any friends.

1 ReplyEvery FPS has some aspects of another FPS in it. It's hard to do something completely original game play wise becasue the primes of the FPS genre is so simple at it's core. It's not like we are dealing with an RPG game in which you can do things that people may have never seen before. With FPS games it's all kinda the same. Killzone has some COD elements in it. The Division looks like it's going to have some BF4 and Socom elements in it. So a FPS game reminding you of another FPS game isn't a bad thing. The only way a FPS game can have any originality depends on what you do with the story of the game itself.

1 ReplyI still feel Destiny will have its own unique feel, that's just not coming across right now because we're just seeing promo clips rather than getting to play it for any length of time where various options and such start opening up.

2 RepliesI've never played Halo (except one time with my nephew and that was not a good experience, 10 year old just throws me into multiplayer on maps he knows), but I've played and enjoyed Borderlands. As much as I like Borderlands, Halo has a overall better story and combined that with Borderlands and some other games, I think it's not bad. The comparisons become old as WWII vet nowadays rather quickly. Notably Far Cry 3 and me had a bad turn of events, but that's my experience.

1 ReplyIt's kind of annoying when people say the game is "borderlands reskinned". I mean destiny and borderlands are just in similer genres. They are both scifi open world fps.

1 ReplySince there are not many games like halo, the game I played for 10 + years, I think having destiny play somewhat like it will keep me playing for the next decade.
