Mass effect 3 ending.

What was so bad about it? The only thing that depressed me was the fact that shepard died, and that the entire normandy crew is lost on some random planet with no relays to get them out so they are all probably going to die from starvation.

      • I can't think of a case of a more baffling boondoggle than I can the ME3 ending. Seriously think about this. There are paid developers who, using their professional judgement, thought that ending was appropriate.

                  • Originally: BioWare went and promised the internet that there would be huge impacts on the endings based on what we'd done in all games leading up to ME3, to the point where there would be a ton of different endings. In the end, we got six slightly different endings, but it was basically all the same. The videos were the same, no matter what you chose or had done up to that point, all with a slightly different tint (RGB). BioWare learned that day what Bungie's been talking about for years: Don't make the internet a promise if you know you can't keep it. The choices weren't great. Every option had something good about it, and something horrifyingly terrible. All led to the destruction of the mass relays (which originally blew up spectacularly, which we know from a previous DLC is enough force to wipe out a solar system). Oh, and Shep's dead (weakest argument of any of 'em, but people used it anyway). But then we past the endings and went into full-on speculations. No mass relays and everyone's crammed on Earth? Quarians and turians can't digest the same foods as other species. Earth is a ravaged wasteland. Quarians aren't making it back to Rannoch, so what's the point of taking it back at all? The galaxy united for one big effort to save everything they've built, but now they won't be able to make it back to their home/colony worlds. Speaking of colonies, many were relying on imports from other systems. Not happening now, so everyone dependent on outside health see their inhabitants starve to death. Anyone out of the Sol system is on their own. Many other fears and problems addressed, including a sheer lack of explanation/inquisitiveness by Shep. The extended cut calmed some fears, but not all. The destroy ending outright showed that it's going to take a long time to recover what all was lost, while other endings saw Reapers aiding in rebuilding their Mass Relays and getting civilization back on its feet. It took me a while, but with the Extended Cut there was enough for me to accept the ending for what it was. It wasn't perfect, and that last choice had to matter, and it had to be the toughest. We'll discuss for a while which was really the best (I opted control in my main go-through). Still doesn't fully incorporate all of those old decisions from games past in the final battle, but ME3 had several moments of closure with those loose ends throughout the game. For others, this wasn't enough still. Those are the few hanging on to the hate.
