What do you think about Marty O'Donnel's firing from Bungie after having it in your mind for a few days?
Personally, in still pretty angry and will probably be avoiding future Bungie titles at this rate.

Still a huge mistake.

2 RepliesEdited by Coconut Water: 4/22/2014 2:38:50 PMIt's still bullshit and I want an explanation. But I'm not going to "boycott Density". That just sounds like an idiotic plan, Density looks like a lot of fun, and Marty's music will still be there.

Edited by Bloodylaser: 5/5/2014 2:44:34 PMWasn't happy about Bungie's decision but I got over it really quickly. And I'm not those idiots who are like "boycott bungie" because they are only overeacting.

That just doesn't make any sense to me I mean come on Bungie

#Cut4Marty

6 RepliesI'm still upset about it. The only way I can justify it, is by thinking that Destiny is suppose to last 10 years. Since the music is completed It wouldn't make sense to keep him around.
-
1 ReplyWait, wat... I haven't been on here recently. What the hell has happened?

Unchanged. I don't think Marty is coming back, and I don't think Bungie will ask him to, but to keep this community as open and personal as it once was, I think that Bungie owes us an explanation (not an apology).
-
Oh my god are you lost ? See #Bungie is over there next to that starbucks and yo mama
-
Still gets me somehow. Just don't know why.

4 RepliesI believe we don't have enough information on the details surrounding his firing for me to have an informed opinion on it. Would I like to hear more of his music in future Bungie games? Of course, but I don't know that they didn't have a good reason for letting him go. And no, him saying he got fired for no reason is not info, it's exactly what someone who just got fired from a job they liked would say.
-
I still to know why they fired him.
-
1 ReplyI want to know why. I still am going to buy Destiny since it has his epic music and everything else.
-
My care cup is still as empty as it was back then
-
Still don't give a shit
-
1 ReplySame thing. How they handled it is still unacceptable to me. They're just waiting for the obvious rage to die down so they don't have to deal with it. But it'll still be here in my mind.
-
Bumped/Bad, especially when I heard his music on the lastest, Destiny gameplay/trailer.
-
I'm definitely still buttmad and I think the future Destiny titles will be heavily impacted by this; in a bad way.
-
I'm less excited about Bungie games now. Marty's music was a huge draw for me. But I'm excited to see where Marty goes from here.
-
6 RepliesI personally don't care. Sure he created some great pieces for Halo.. But it's not like someone else couldn't do the same. He's very talented but I don't mind that he was fired for whatever reason. Not buying a game because of it is just crazy. His music will still be featured in the first one, so if you truly are a fan of his work then you would still by it. Also don't blame "Bungie" as a whole. It was the board that fired him.
-
I'd like to know the details. Still can't believe Bungie's actually without Marty.
-
What I don't understand is how you actually FIRE Marty. If there had been a major disagreement, or just general troubles, I would have expected him to Leave or be forced to resign, not be fired. Especially since Salvatori Just came in bungie. So many grizzled ancients have left in the last years, that's really odd. Bungie becoming independent sounded like it would be the rebirth of bungie after struggling (yet succeeding) inside Microsoft. Now who's left that was Pre-Microsoft? And I am still bitter of Marcus Lehto's departure, saying he came back and left again because it just didn't work. By the way, shouldn't have Marty been on the board of directors after so long? Who actually owns bungie? I thought key employees owned it and that seemed to include Marty. I wasn't much hyped for Destiny, sadly, and these kind of news just keep pushing me farther and farther away.

It's still shitty what they did.

Edited by NakedPrehistoric: 4/22/2014 2:40:35 PMUnless it was something hugely distasteful (like Marty sleeping with everyone's wife, which is highly probable) then I really don't see why you would fire one of the main pillars of your company. Someone who works with you for almost 2 decades doesn't get fired without cause. I'm still not getting Destiny.

I feel stuck. My sense of Bungie has always had this sharp image to it. A bunch of guys sitting around in a dark, but nicely lit room, making games and having fun, all the while keeping that same college dorm feeling that they found in the early days. Not any more. Now I feel like many of those players are gone, Staten, Marty, two guys who made me feel like Bungie was nerdy and cool. DeeJ kept that feeling together. He showed me that Bungie was huge after Halo, but could still keep that amazing attitude. Now with no word and none of those famous faces to hold my hopes to Believe Bungie still held that juvenile exterior while maintaining professionalism, I don't know what to think. So for now, I wait for more word on what Bungie is in the modern day. I find my solace in Halo 3 matchmaking and in this beautiful community that, even in the darkest times, still burns bright.
