I feel like the Marty lovers didn't really ever KNOW Marty.
And now he's kinda using them for personal gain. It's weird.

I have to disagree with you there.

The crap goes down on the 11th... On the 14th (THREE DAYS LATER) he's on Twitter welcoming new Marty Army peeps. Then his very next tweet is that he was let go? I'm sorry.. but from here.. it looks like you all just feed his ego and then he turns around and uses that to get more money from Bungie or make the case that he's TOO important to let go. From an outsider's perspective who enjoy's Marty's music, but not his antics.. it's weird.

Let me fill in an extra gap for you. On the 11th, he's fired. On the 12th, he closes the Marty Army under the guise that it's too inactive and its time has passed. And that if we want to keep in contact with him, here's his twitter link. On the 14th, Marty responds to all the hello's from the Marty Army regulars who are tweeting him now instead of pestering him on Bungie.net There was a lot of worry and ominous feeling surrounding his shutdown of the Marty Army. Undoubtedly, many messaged Marty these feelings; I was one of them. So after being asked what was going on so many times, Marty finally makes the public statement that he was let go. As for us supposedly never knowing Marty, I still disagree with that. The first private group on Bungie.net was the Marty Army. Marty answered questions more than Bungie ever used to, and used to be very active in the group. We've played with him various times, and the guy is very laid back, relaxed and full of humor. When my Halo 3 disc stopped working and I just happened to mention it in the forums, he personally messaged me to help me fix the problems. He's a nice fella. If all you're basing this argument of ego on is a vague tweet and a greeting tweet days before it, you have an incredibly weak argument.

I thought I was being clear, from an outsider's perspective, it's weird.
-
No, you're not being clear. You begin using the perspective of a "Marty lover" to a perspective of "suspicious outsider." You're not consistent.
-
I'm not a Marty lover. Don't claim to be. In fact, some of his most celebrated work, I didn't really care for. His political ideology I kinda disagree with too. My point is, I follow the guy. Not as a "Marty Lover" but as a fan. That's a perspective Marty Lovers don't have. In your eyes, he can do no wrong and Bungie messed up... I just don't think he's as infallible as you do.. and it's maybe to my detriment, as I didn't see what was going on with his private group in that time period.. But at the same time what was done is suspect and fits with what I do know about the guy. Hope that clears up some of the inconsistencies for you.

Edited by Steel Assassin: 4/18/2014 1:48:52 AM
I'm not a Marty lover. Don't claim to be.
And I never said you were. Your first post said "I feel like the Marty lovers didn't really know Marty." Then your next response supposedly dealt with the perspective of an outsider. So which is it? From a "Marty lover's" point of view, and outsider's, or yours? Be consistent. Allow me to deem you a troll or grasp your point. And since you want to make the distinction between them all, please define them since you also make a distinction between a "Marty lover" and a "fan."
In your eyes, he can do no wrong and Bungie messed up...
Jumping to assumptions then, are we? I never said anyone, let alone Marty, was infallible. All I said is that I disagree that he's using getting fired for personal gain. Odd that sentence had to be written.
But at the same time what was done is suspect and fits with what I do know about the guy.
What was done is suspicious. And what do you know about the guy then to make you suspicious more of Marty than Bungie? That he tweeted hello, his music, or his political beliefs? What exactly are you implying?
-
What I'm "implying" I clearly stated. And if you don't want to read or grasp that, that's your bag. But pretending you can't grasp that concept.. makes you the troll here. I've been clear. You either don't get that I think he's being a spoiled brat who abuses his community for personal gain.. OR you get my point and are just trolling me because you're a Marty Lover.

Edited by Steel Assassin: 4/18/2014 1:56:18 PM
I've been clear. ... I think he's being a spoiled brat who abuses his community for personal gain..
No, that hasn't been a consistent message throughout all your posts. Again: -Your first message dealt with the perspective of so-called Marty lovers, that they didn't know him. -When I addressed that, you said it only "seemed" true from the perspective of an outsider, implying that you agree that it wasn't true -After that gets addressed, you change the post to your personal perspective, which hasn't been true for all your messages Change of perspective radically alters the message of each post, making each post in effect a new and different argument. You only use the term "Marty lover" so frequently to try and diminish other peoples' point of views (in this case, mine); it's rather childish. One more chance to take you seriously though..I'm a stupidly forgiving lad.

I guess you could have read the part wrong where I differentiate between being a fan and being a Marty Lover. That's understandable confusion. I'll even take partial responsibility on that one, my bad. But if you still don't get it, I think... like the Marty thing itself, you're letting your personal feelings on the matter blind you. I follow him and Bungie, all this AND MORE, as a fan, not a groupie. That's the difference here.
