Why are parents such jerks?

Do they have problems with alcohol? Smoking? Illegal substances? Don't necessarily answer any of those things if yes, but if so then that's the most likely possibility. If none of those things than it's probably teen angst, and them having no -blam!-ing clue how to deal with it, ending up becoming douches that just take stuff away and yell in an attempt to be "good parents". If that is the case, just deal with it for a few more years, don't burn any bridges, and then you'll get over it probably near the end of college.
