I'm left-handed and think it would be the best thing in the world if Destiny not only had a left-handed button control scheme, but flipped the gun and HUD to make it feel 100% natural. It would also make the experience feel more like riding a bike for the first time, would be possible to add a feature like this to such a game?

This one of the subtle features that I enjoyed from the UT games. You could also change your HUD color, scale, and opacity levels. I like little touches like this, and I am also left handed.
-
it would be interesting and helpful, but a lot of people have conformed to righty config.
-
4 RepliesYeah i play lefty on counter strike, it feels alot better, it would be a cool feature to have
-
This feature is implemented in some valve games, counter strike source that I know of. As I understand, it works like a mirror.
-
That's a great idea. I'm left-handed as well. But, I've grown used to right handed.

5 RepliesTo make a real left handed mode they need to create a left handed controller. For example a lefty xbox controller. The bumpers/triggers stay the same but perhaps their function in-game is flipped. Right stick, A, B, X, Y buttons get moved to te left. D-pad and left stick go to the right.

slimehow long has it been? - old
While I'm left handed, I've always played on the right side, even in Unreal Tournament 3 when they have me the option, I stuck with right sided. But, I do hope that Bungie throws subtle things like that into the game. -
Edited by Vanilla Unicorn: 5/15/2014 5:53:50 PMI occasionally use my left hand. I once used both, it got a bit messy.
-
Sounds like a legitimate thing they could do. Maybe have to buy a left handed controller

2 RepliesWhy waste time on this feature when they could improve cat ears?
-
I brought this up months ago and think it should be addressed. As far as customization goes it should be an option.

Edited by SBTTLS: 5/15/2014 12:18:10 PMWith Bungie touting that each Guardian will be your own and very customizable, it would be a shame not to. It's about time that it has been implemented further. The new Wolfenstine just announced that you can hold your gun left handed.

2 RepliesSeems like a waste of time, really. I tried using the left-handed control system once - southpaw - and I absolutely couldn't do a thing.
-
3 RepliesIf it would be available, I think that for lefties that have played other right handed shooters, it might be a little strange and not right. It may put you at a disadvantage.
-
That would be cool. I'm not a leftie myself, but I know several people who are and would thoroughly enjoy this.
-
4 Replieslefties anyone?
-
I was gonna ask this question too!
-
I shoot left handed, but even so I've gotten so used to right handed shooters. So, I don't think I'd do it.
-
Edited by Galahad: 5/15/2014 10:25:04 AMIt'd definitely be a welcomed addition to the game. And I don't think it's a difficult thing to do, either.
-
The only game ive ever seen that option in was counter strike.
-
This actually sounds like a great idea to have in-game for left handed people to play or even right handed people!
-
In cs you can change your gun to a left handed view quite easily, doesnt seem to hard to impliment it, its just some rerangment of a few hud icons, or just keep them in the same spot, if the layout is still okay.

I would love this personally, as a lefty myself (see username). I don't really know how this would be dealt with from a design standpoint. I have heard other game developers kind of allude to why it's hard to do left or multiple-handedness in first person games. But I would love this in Destiny as yet another way to make your character feel your own and unique. I've always wondered what it's like as a right handed person to play first person shooters since the finger they use on the controller triggers is the same one they would be using on a real gun in real life.

1 ReplyThis would be a pretty sweet feature. Also this may be feedback, but if suggest moving this over to #Destiny, it would get more discussion and also others who feel the same.

1 ReplyWhy would being left handed change the HUD around?
