Experienced "Fandom" for the first time. Seriously!
*WARNING: Incoming Blog*
So today I decided to go to BestBuy and pick up The Hobbit. As I was walking around, somebody yelled out "YO BRUTE!!!"
Not being called that on a daily basis, I figured he was talking to somebody else. Then I head it again "Hey AngryBrute! Whats up man!" I was kind of shocked that somebody knew that name. Never met the guy before in my life, I walked over to him and he started saying--"Whats up man! Love your YouTube stuff blowing up them bad games."
Pretty shocking to see somebody in my TEENY TINY Sub count actually in public. After talking for several minutes, he decided to give back to me. He recalled all of the giveaways that I have done, and said he would like to buy my copy of The Hobbit for me.
Can you say BLESSED! Totally made my day with that act of kindness. No idea if he came randomly from the Tube, or here. If you're here and reading this. Thank you! :D

4 RepliesI know what you're getting at with fans doing nice things for you, but the word "fandom" generally brings to mind tumblr girls drawing gay porn and calling it fanart. But nevertheless, that's pretty awesome.

I've actually had a few minor fans here and there. I go to the Oshkosh Wisconsin airshow every year and I'm pretty much the youngest ultralight pilot there who has bought their own flying machine. You can fly your own ultralights there when the actual airshow isn't going on (they have separate runways for different types of aircraft), and I'm pretty popular with the ultralight PA announcers. I've been interviewed by a radio station and various TV stations. I was even offered free flight training from this guy who works for the airshow. It's nothing that amazing but I've had lots of people come up to me and congratulate me on my accomplishment. A guy who watches my YouTube videos came up to me. We had chatted a bit before on the site. It's a strange feeling being a well-known person like that lol.
